I like how you phrased this, but with regard to Canion and the "if we lose Canion," is there something to that? Or are you just referencing a Georgia kid that blew up after committing to ND?

The one thing that helps is that Stuckey went to his high school, so the choice will make sense and have some protection locally, on that level.

Not sure I agree with that Loy posted an article 5 days ago that stated Notre Dame would love to land Mychali also why only take one? Teams like Texas A&M, Georgia, and Bama take 3-4 guys like Thomas every year.
I don’t (most of the time) care what Loy posted.

Multiple others from other sites have confirmed sources at ND told them their DL board consists of Scott & Rushing moving forward.
ND would have loved Williams, but they got Thomas, who they also love, & decided they weren’t pushing for Williams. If he wanted to commit, they would take him, but aren’t pushing for him.

most recruits dont want to wait until the fall to make their decisions and also most of them have already visited for gamedays on unofficial visits

I would assume it's pretty difficult to have a Friday night high school game, board a plane, get to ND for an afternoon/night game, and then be back home Sunday before going back to class on Monday. Summer is just easier.

also the staff on game weekends have games to deal with. In Summer they can spend more time with recruits.

Sorry, the "others" are just flat out incorrect. The Thomas commitment turned Mylachi off to ND, not the other way around. Look at PSU's class right now - not a single DE/DL commit. There's a reason why they're the leader.

If the staff has "moved on," it's because MW is lukewarm about joining a crowded class at his particular position and ND decided to place their resources elsewhere. Simple as that.

I am very concerned about the trajectory of recruiting.
That wasn't my intention as I think this class is going to be quite good when all is said and done.

More so, the ND beat is very intentional in getting out the phrases "ND passed" or "ND is passing" here when in reality it's likely waning interest on behalf of the recruit.

It's the Freeman hype machine. This will be the best 7th or 8th ranked class ever, because we'll have never lost a recruitment, lol.

He likely has but I was more speaking publicly. But, like posted above, I’m a little behind here.

There is a lot of "passing" in this class with guys that have waning interest.
There is a lot of bad strategy in my opinion.

There have been numerous instances this class where a site will report, well ahead of time, long before it happens, that ND is backing off someone. In most circumstances that site will say they don’t agree with the decision, but it is what ND is doing.

For example, they said ND was backing off Brewer & going after Knapp. They said that ND was not pushing for M. Williams because they felt great about Thomas, etc…

These sites reported it long before it happened & when it didn’t make sense to us.
So even if we disagree with the decisions, it seems ND was the side who was making the decisions.

Yes, that's the whole point of it. To seem like Nd is the one making the decisions.

The trajectory appears to be returning to the "aisle" we were in for a decade or so. So if you were in the camp that you fire coaches who do not win national championships you are probably worried you'll have to keep doing it.

I'm not talking specifically to you Pops. Its just that Nd fans need a reality check some times. The demographics of college football have changed so much since the late 80's and the average fan just doesn't seem to get it.

Our average recruit ranking is concerning.

It’s pretty much all big fish (four stars) from here on out. Pending a new target in October/November.

Kedren Young, Carter Nelson, Styles Prescod, Guerby Lambert, Elijah Rushing, Justin Scott, KVA, Chris Cole, Kaleb Beasley, Paul Mencke Jr, Brauntae Johnson… all composite four stars or higher.
