I believe you got to go with Golson...
Keil will end up transferring after next year...
Once Golson plays he will not beable to come off the field
I think Keil is going to be real good buti just feel Golson fits our system better. If Golson starts he will be there for the next 4 years. We another mobile Qb is comin in next year ...you red shirt him and once Golson graduates he will have two years left, sets us up for the next 6 yeara

What makes you think Keil transfers? He'd be going to IU if he wanted to be "the man".

I think it's Golson....While he's a little slow with the playbook right now, he'll have the whole summer to learn.

What you can't teach, he's already better at than the other guys. He's athletic, has the best arm, and can make plays.

I think he ends up the starter.

You're giving Golson a lot of credit for a guy who is yet to see the field at this level.

I know it's only high school stats but I believe he only threw single digit ints every year and threw for crazy attempts.. He is a winner period

For someone that didnt know the play book and was getting poor snaps he sure didnt look like it phased him

He is only slow with the play book cause he ran different teams play books weekly last year

He IS a winner...at the high school level- agreed. I would still like to see him do it at the next level before crowning him 4-year starter and the reason our most highly touted QB prospect in a few years transfers out.

Good point, I am just extremely happy we will being seeing a new qb get a shot...

I was like 12 than my vote did nt count

We have crazy athletes right now on offense....we might have lost Floyd but I mean I wouldn't mind seeing a 5 wideout set with Eifert and Daniels out wide and than GAIII, Riddick and Neal in the slots...

I'll be fine with Hendrix or Golson.. Crazy how much a good QB matters our defense has been way better and seems to flipped the scale now the offense has problems..

Why wait? We are all so good at jumping to conclusions. Remember when Ron Powlus won 3 Heismans?

Like many others, I'd be fine with either Hendrix or Golson. Hendrix makes incredibly maddening mistakes sometimes (throwing to LBs sitting right in front of him seems to be a problem) but he usually has the offense moving at a decent clip. I don't think Gunner will transfer, but at the same time, if he wants to play and Golson turns out like we think he will, he will be sitting on the bench for four years (I doubt Golson will jump early, NFL scouts will probably shy away due to size) just to play for one year.

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but I don't like the practice of taking a QB every cycle. It creates a logjam, and it's not like ND is recruiting scrubs at QB. These are all legit players who had legit offers. I understand the reasoning behind it, creating depth, you can never have too many good QBs, etc. but I think it creates a lot of problems. For example, let's say everything goes as planned, Golson runs train for four years, Kiel plays for 1 year, and then Malik only has one year. I don't think success is sustainable in this model.

He will have two years two because of the redshirt his first year.... I do agree with you about the logjam...I just think that Kelly had to turn over an entire roster so he recruiting unexpected transfers

I can't wait for the season now......my stomach was in knots just thinking about another year of tommy

Taking a QB every cycle protects you from one sucking, getting hurt, or leaving school. While all these guys are great prospects its naive to assume they will all pan out. Maybe Keil plays for 1 year. Maybe whoever our 2014 qb is shows up and jumps everybody. You have no idea. Saying this guy will have 2 years and this guy will only have 1 is a waste of breath.

Lol

My main concern is (assuming Tommy isn't on the team this year - I said assume!) that Gunner burns a year of eligibility for nothing just for the sake of the 3-deep.

You forget how we do things here. We don't redshirt. We simply offer them a fifth year of eligibility if they spent one year not playing. In other words, Kiel could still be the 3rd man on the depth chart, but as long as he doesn't play, he doesn't lose a year of eligibility.

He can be dressed ready to go but if he doesn't step on the field he doesn't lose the year

Completely agree and understand. I just have shades of the 2010 UM game in my head.

Y what am I doin wrong and what can I improve on?

For starters, read the board. We have literally a dozen threads addressing the QB. We even already have a poll thread for who will start. It's hard enough to keep track of conversations with how much info is on here, clogging up the board with redundant threads makes it even harder.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't post, and you seem like a good dude. My comments on newbs being able to make threads has more to do with giving newbs a chance to see how the board works before starting their own threads. It inevitably turns into a bad situation and sometimes puts a bad taste in newbert's mouth (hehe) regarding the site.

Keep posting and welcome to the board, but read a bit before starting another thread. It will help you get a better grip on the flow of things.

Positive reps, homie.

Golson could win 4 heismen trophies, go undefeated for 4 years and there isn't one NFL team that would offer him a contract, let alone draft him (for QB). His probably of leaving early is less than zero. Gunner, on the other hand, will if successful.
As far as passing, if I recall correctly, didn't he have only four interceptions his senior year?
Go with Golson and we will have a Denard Robinson type player who can pass.
And we will have him for four years.

I feel like he is a better fit for kelly's offense as well. Keil is a better nfl prospect by far
