Apparently Houston Griffith is back? Can't hurt, although he didn't make any plans in 2021 and he's just so slow. But depth and experience at safety cannot hurt.

Yes, he his tackling performance is questionable, but it would help the depth chart to have an extra "experienced" player there.

I guess I'm confused by the lack of announcements. Doesn't everybody know by now if they are returning or not? Maybe those who are considering the draft are still getting information but why would those who are deciding if its ND or another school waiting?

I would rather they get a chance to decompress from the season, get a chance to discuss with MF and family before deciding.

Have to kind of laugh at the poor luck the Detroit Lions have. Win a game and drop to 2nd pick. No problem, you get Hutchinson or KT. But after the Georgia game you kind of have to re-evaluate Ojabo and Hutchison. I'd be cautious picking either of them inside the top10.

Justin Ademiolo has announced he's back, although I'm not sure he's a draftable prospect so it may be a formality. But this has to help with his brother you think, who is probably draftable.

Jayson's not getting much love from the draftniks either so I would expect him back. Would be pretty crazy for him to enter the portal now that twin brother is coming back. Like I said earlier I think the players are arranging the announcement among themselves so I'm expecting one a day for the next week or so. Besides the obvious top two of Foskey and Patterson my wish list (in order of need) goes Davis, Bracy, Jayson, Bauer, Wilkins, anyone else.

I hope we get everyone I listed. That will put us right around 85. We need to add a few WR's and maybe a few more from either the portal or high school but they'll be some more "depth chart" transfers among the underclassmen to offset that,there always are.

Is this inside info or where did you get this? FWIW I don't think either are draftable, maybe Jayson, but wondering if this is more confirmed versus assumed.

Bracy was solid all year. He's a big need to come back.

I wouldn't necessarily say solid....average would be a better word.

According to PFF, he graded out as our worst CB.

He and Clarence Lewis graded out just about the same, actually.

I feel that we have some younger players that can step up and see the field more.

Well you certainly don't bring back a guy for a fifth year if he's going to be 3rd string. But that would mean we have 4-5 guys better than him and we don't. Unless the guys who haven't played are all better than him which is unlikely.

I guess I'm inbetween. I'd take Bracy back but he's also below average. No size, speed, and instincts seem to just be ok. He should not be starting but good to have for depth.

Bracy was a decent nickel, unless you’re assuming Mickey is a Day 1 starter or JoJo is essentially Day 1 off injury, a return is beneficial. He is certainly not 3rd string or PWO equivalent.

At this point I would think Bracy brings some intangibles with his experience. I found him to be a decent tackler for his Colemanesque size.

This is exactly what I was envisioning (the higher of the two). If you can get Joseph to transfer in, and you get a transfer CB, you free up Lewis to join Henderson at FS and you should have a very solid 4 safety rotation with them and Watts. Not sure about Griffith outside of depth and a special teams guy. (maybe Brown or Griffith are 5th year gainers?)

I thought I read somewhere that Davis already announced he is coming back.

I don't think Davis's "decision" warrants an announcement. Is he just going to get an office job? I feel like there's no doubt he'll be back, it's just weather he'll actually be ready to play or not.

They're not in the middle of season ending injuries and likely could try to get signed as UDFA's? IDK, I've never thought Davis was a pro player and tearing his knee certainly doesn't help him.

Is he going to go rehab at Duke or what? I feel like no announcement is needed from him.
