As far as numbers go Sampson is reporting that as of right now it looks like Cwynar will not be back next year.

Offering John Turner might come back to hurt us. I also hope Standifer shouldn't get an offer until later if at all.

We currently have 9 guys on the roster who think they'll be playing Safety. At least one of them will be changing position. I'm hoping it's Baratti to DOLB.

Unless he turns out good.

If Turner's measurables are as good as advertised, he'll at least provide solid depth.

If those were true he'd have better offers besides Ball State. Just saying. Word on the street is Deiter even ate him alive.

His 40 time might not be legit, but he allegedly ran a sub-4.0 shuttle for ND's coaches. That's freakish agility at an arguably more important DB drill.

Goodman, but no Cwynar? Hmmmmm...could this mean the staff knows something about a couple of potential DL commits later today?

Maybe, but I'm still very skeptical that Goodman was promised anything. Those decisions simply aren't made until after NSD.

Me no want either. Unfortunately I think it's reality though unless we get a thumbs up from Ron or Yuri.

Yuri should be Irish within the next 10 days. Maybe Ron too. I can't see Standifer getting an offer unless we whiff on both.

I can't understand why we keep a punt catcher? The only reason I can ponder is that they really expect him in the WR rotation early season while the young pups teeth...

Hey Whiskey I sure hope you are right. The speculation about Goodman, if true tells me they were hitting the panic button early. And if so, could translate to a Standifer offer too. Let's hope not with all the good news the last 2 days. Hell I'm hoping for Darby, Yuri, AAx2, Decker, and another ATH/WR/DB surprise.

He was apparently timed directly by Martin, which is why he got his offer.

There is no doubt he is a project. My only point is that signing a 3-star with a bad offer sheet (ND, Minnesota, Indiana, and Temple) does not create a problem in itself. The offer is only bad if the project does not pan out. Turner is our guy now, so give him a chance.

There is also something to be said for hedging one's bets early in the process and keeping the connection to the local powerhouse in the same offer.

I suppose the leadership he would bring to the table shouldn't be understated. A young, TALENTED receiving corps still needs to learn a thing or two.

Decker is as gone as can be. Unless Myer clutches his heart within the next couple of weeks.

That's a good point. Goodman would bring some veteran leadership to what might end up being a very young WR core. He's also big, fast, and strong. I think his inability to crack the starting line-up has been mostly mental.

If he does get a 5Y, I wouldn't be surprised to see him win the Corey Mays/ Jonas Gray award for break-out senior season.

The staff may also be wanting to avoid an extremely small 2013 class to maintain roster balance. From here on out they may be inviting top recruits only (with the exception of CB, which is a big need).

not to change the subject, but should we miss on one of our remaining targets at wideout, it's been said on here for months that prosise has the ability to move to the offensive side of the ball. i know a lot of us like his ball hawking skills on defense, but this could be the thinking of the staff going after guys like standifer along with wright/darby. take two more DB's and move c.j. to wideout. just a thought whatever it's worth.

The problem i have with this theory is that he couldn't be Toma,TJ, So i am pretty sure he can't beat either one of them out know plus Daniels.

The problem with moving Prosise to WR is that he's the best FS commit we have right now. Baratti, Badger, and Shumate are all SSs. Unless we win the Shaq Thompson lottery, I think he stays on defense.

I don't think bringing back Goodman is a good idea, nor do I think him likely to start if and when he gets invited back. Was just throwing out possible justifications.

do not disagree at all with you...just trying to find the thinking for how this class is shaping up. need prosise in the secondary for sure imo as well.

Gone, but I wouldn't say far gone. His dad came out and said the flip was not the best decision. I don't think we get him back, but I would not write him off just yet. Also thinking getting GK changes things a bit for OL targets.
