Which Game Will Be Harder

Ok, I know I never post on here, but I do view this board almost daily. I also know that Notre Dame can't overlook any team on their schedule, but I have a question for everyone. Which game do you think will be a tougher game, Washington or USC? I know on paper you would think USC, but Washington's Jake Locker is a pretty mobile quarterback and aside from the Nevada game, the Irish defense has had problems with that style of quarterback. I also think Washington will be extremely psyched for this game, much like they were for USC. I also think their coach wants to beat Notre Dame with "Willingham's Players." USC has a stable of running backs which concerns me considering ND's run defense so far this season. I know Barkley, when healthy, is a pretty darn good quarterback, but I think the Irish can hold their passing game in check, provided they stop USC's running game.

Anyway, I'd love to hear everyone else's opinion. Thanks and don't be too hard on this new poster. :)

I think Washington and Purdue are more similar in terms of a challenge than USC and Washington. Locker is a game changer no doubt, but USC just flat-out does not lose big games, and we are always a big game for them. I agree with Sark probably wanting to beat ND with "Willingham's players" but I think Weis understands this even more and does not want to lose to those same players. Washington is much improved but in all honesty they are probably a 8 win team at absolute best. USC could be 0-3 right now and I would still be more concerned about them just cause they're USC

USC will be tougher. Locker gives Washington a shot. And I have never been too impressed by Barkley. He looks like a freshmen. I am worried about the Irish run D against USC.

USC. Dominating D-line, dominating O-line, outstanding defensive playmakers, better talent overall. UW is an unknown quantity at this time...they're giving Stanford like 7 or 8 points this weekend in Vegas, so they're not even favored to beat Stanford, much less ND. But having said that, the way we defend, I'm still scared of both...

USC. They will run all day because that is all the offense they have. Our d sofar suggests that they will in fact be able to run all day on us.

Locker is a scarier QB but USC is a betterteam

Washington does run the samee system that UCS does. Offensively and Defensivelywe will be facing the same scheme

I agree. Expect Joe McKnight to look like an All-American on October 17th.

USC is stacked 2 deep with 5 star talent (the bluest of blue chip NFL prospects) at almost every position. One off game against Washington last week doesn't take away from the fact that they're as unbeatable as any team in college football for the better part of the 21st century.

Asking who you think will be a tougher opponent is asinine. It's a ridiculous question.

Purdue.

Its' the first game without Floyd, Clausen has turf toe, and won't have Allen to keep the blitzers honest with his rushing, blocking, and pass catching. That's a lot of adjustments to make in a couple of days Another whiffed block by a scrub RB might put Jimmy out of the UW and USC games. Look for the TEs to stay home more often for pass protection. This could negate Rudolph having a big receiving night.

I don't think Sark is wasting a remote thought to beating ND with "Willingham's players" he just beat SC and his mentor with "Willingham's players".

There is something to be said for playing inspired football. Look at the Washignton game. If Notre Dame reallty believes they are the better team like they did in 05 then this game could surprise alot of the naysayers

Good point

The wosrt thing ND can do is think Purdue will be a cakewalk

I have a hard time believing they will play that inspired.

2005 was a ridiculously hyped game. USC was #1, it was Charlie's first season, College Gameday aired from South Bend, etc.

With USC at a possible 3-2/4-2, (I believe Cal plays them before we do), there is no way this game is that hyped, and our players probably won't get that pumped.

In 2005, Charlie made a HUGE deal about how his team was better, how they were going to beat USC, how he wanted USC at #1 so they could upset them, etc. That was definitely one of the biggest reasons we played so well on October 15th, 2005.

With Floyd out...I'm not sure. With Floyd and Allen out (possibly), I'm pretty sure we'll lose on October 17th.

7 game losing streak

No one on the roster has beaten USC

Charlie on the hot seat

The whole world saying the team is not that good

At home

If they are not THAT pumped then they shouldnt be putting on that uniform

Why should Floyd or Allen make a difference to you?

You were sure ND would lose Saturday when you ran up the white flag before halftime, "The Season's Lost".

Too close to call for me

...Washington has a little running back that made LSU look like they had cement feet, and of course Locker. ND has them before the condoms, so they could be flat, and its in Washington.

USC has way more depth in skill players, and a line to go with the running back. I think they have a bye week before us...However we should be way up for them, with lots to prove, and we are at home

either one of these could get us...

we actually are playing both of them at home...and we have the bye in between.

I think all the discussion about Washington and USC is well and good, but I agree with the previous poster about NOT overlooking tomorrow's game - we need to beat the Boilers, then we can start worrying about the Huskies. For what its worth, as good as Locker is, I think we match up well against Washington, and we have them at home, AND, we really shouldn't be overlooking them to USC, since there will be two full weeks between those games.

Go Irish!

I read poodle had down time before us somewhere...but the rest was just drunkin one-eyed reading...(but never drive that way)...putting a breathalizer on my laptop so it won 't start when I'm in the bag

outside the complete innaccuracies...I was right though ...:) Thanks for fixing that...
