Where does Louisville 2023 rank in embarrassing losses?

I think this season was lost after the OSU Game. I think psychologically speaking, the players probably realized their coaches screwed them in the OSU game and that resulted in them quitting. We got by Duke with Hartmann....but really the loss at OSU is the issue. Not because of the players but because of the Coaches. I am sure that killed the players morale.

Absolute disaster from start to finish. It’s worse than Marshall and Stanford. Completely demolished. I’ll go Michigan 2019 and Miami 2018 as worse than this
Not even close to being one of the worst.

Louisville is now ranked #14 lmao. We really created this thread for that.

That being said, I still think they are a fringe top 25 team.

In 2009, we lost on senior night to a Zach Fazier led UConn.
Blessing in disguise though, because it was the final nail in the coffin for ole Charlie!
What a depressing final month of the season that was, things looked bleak!

My first game at ND Stadium was 07 Michigan State, where I watched Brian Hoyer embarrass us for four quarters, and ND dropped to 0-4 to start a season for what I believe was the first and only time in thier history...so yes it could always be worse.

I'm sorry I downvoted you op. I don't think you're a troll and I think your concerns are legit.

It's not nearly as embarrassing as at least 8 other losses i can think of... I won't bore you with the list. I just think it's a boring take and I stand by my down vote.

I put this on Wash and Savvy Jack.

There's no way we should have been short on D lineman twice for Ohio State. And there's no excuse for scheduling this mess. It's too much.
Whatever. Beat Southern Cal. We can do it.

As an outsider, I don't think this loss ranks in the top 10 or maybe even the top 20. All losses seem worse than they really are immediately afterwards. Louisville is a decent program and team, and these games happen to everyone. A year or two from now it won't feel like an embarrassing loss.

Not at all embarrassing. Tough environment against a good team, and we were not well prepared. Happens once every season to nearly every team. Honestly, I think people just let their hopes get a bit too high. We still lack elite WRs, DEs, S, LBs, and the O line is developmental. That’s just way too much to overcome against what turns out to be a pretty brutal schedule.

Finish the back half of the season strong, keep the momentum building in recruiting, see if we can get a QB in the portal, etc. Just keep grinding. That’s how a program gets built.

I think a lot of the answer to this question depends on what happens next.

If we turn it around and go 10-2 or even a strong 9-3 - which are both well within the realm of possibility - then it’s an unfortunate blip. A trap game against a salty opponent who played their asses off on their biggest stage. It happens. And no long-term damage done.

If our offense keeps playing like they did on Saturday and our season goes off the rails and then recruits start to bail and all the worst-case fever dreams of certain posters come to pass, then we’ll remember that game very differently.

Stay tuned!

It was a disappointing loss. I don't feel any personal or indirect embarrassment over it. There was concern that they were going on the road for another night game against a hyped up opponent and they'd just played two grinders the previous two games. That concern manifested itself. Big time.

Sports are the most important of the least important things in life. If anyone doesn't have more important shit happening in their life, consider yourself incredibly lucky. Hope that all of you and yours are safe and well.

Go Irish, beat Trojans.
