Deion Walker?
John Goodman?
Robby Parrish?
Shaquelle Evans?
Roby Toma?

I would like to see Evans step up the most, Parrish has the most playing time out of all of them, Walker and Goodman need some more playing time, and Toma; if Weis does not red shirt him could be a diamond in the rough.

I'd be shocked if Toma saw the field this year.

George West and Barry Gallup are presumably still ahead of him on the depth chart.

If you mean who is going to step up, as in start, in Floyd's absence; unfortunately, it appears that Duval Kamara is the #3 wideout in the stable. Although Weis has said that Evans will see the field more.

If you mean who is going to step up, as in try to replace as much of Floyd's production as possible, then I think your answer is already on the field. I think Kyle Rudolph will become a much bigger part of the offense. That's assuming that he can still get open, without defenses having to double BOTH outside guys.

Common sense tells me it will be Duval - myth, legend, and heart tell me Evans. Experience/gut seems to tell me Parris.

What's that mean? I have no idea.

I selected 'other' because I think this is when Gtate needs to step it up...

Although Tate is the respected .......Junior, Floyd was top dog dog in the WR corps. Now its time for Gtate to step up his game; no more dropped passes; he now needs to be the weapon that the other teams think of first, filling that Floyd-role. if he does not fill that spot in the offense, the offensive model that has worked so well since HAW will change. That makes me a little nervous; they finally found a formula that fits the offense and it has worked very well, but now it will have to adapt. Who knows if that change in the offense will translate to the same success (and we sure dont have 2 or 3 games to find something that works). Hopefully, Tate can step it up and the offense will keep rolling along...

my whole 'tate theory' is based on what I assume the offense is going to do. i have no idea what/how they plan to adapt to floyd's loss. But, I think the most streamlined, logical adjustment to make is to have Gtate fill the Floyd-role, then all other WR's basically step up a rung, that means more PT for a young guy.

Someone should tell Deion Walker that his time is NOW

I voted Shaq simply because I'm so excited to see him play and to find out if he's as blindingly fast as advertised.

I was really excited when he came to ND, so it'd be a lot of fun to see him be a stud.

Tate can step all up he wants. If we don't have a solid WR on the opposite site of the field, Tate will face constant double teams.

I'd have to agree, if his speed is as good as advertised, he'll take the double team away from Tate, defenses won't risk it imo.

However, I fully expect to see him and Kamara split reps for the time being.

I don't know about you guys, but I am excited to see if we have another elite receiver besides Floyd(didn't want to find out this way).

This year was a BCS bowl at the most and next year we should be able to contend for a National Title and if one of our WRs step up like Floyd did last year, then defenses are in big trouble next year.

I just hope one of the 5 is going to be a star! Deion Walker is my bet but Shaq is looking good as well.

Never really liked Kamara. Just doesn't seem to have IT. Hopefully I am wrong and he lives up to what he started out to be.

I look forward to Saturdays all week long so I can watch THE IRISH play! Wish I lived in SB so I could go to every home game!

GO IRISH!!!!!!!!

I say we run the Wildcat on every down and JC emerges as the country's best WR. Coincidentally AA emerges as the country's best new QB.

I like Kamara on running plays, Parris on short yardage passing needs and evans and walker on the others. Kamara is like a small tight end. They are able to play him tight but as long as he uses his body he should be good for 6-7 yards a reception.

And finishes leading the nation in pass efficiency... the guys ahead of him will fall...

I have a crazy idea...how about Armando Allen moves to the slot? He has great hands and should break tackles after the catch. Or we could just give him the ball every play. He is averaging 5.5 yards a carry. I would not mind seeing a 500+ yard rushing game from our team against Purdue!

....Tate will face constant double teams....

that is what we want....we want to force the defense into making a double team. Once that double team happens, it means single coverage for someone else. That opens the field for Rudolph and passes out of the backfield. As I said, Tate (or someone) needs to fill the FLoyd role in order to keep the offense rolling....if they dont double team Tate, he(tate) has to make them pay and that is where he needs to step up.

If the defense picks and chooses who they will double team (instead of them reacting to the offense)...they dictate the flow of the game. If ND forces the defense to double team a player, ND would have that defense on their heels, playing reactionary; the ND offense would dictate the flow of the game, rather than the PU defense. Playing on your heels while on defense is a recipe for disaster.

instead of being p----whipped, flip it around and whip that P----

Why weaken two positions at the same time?

Put Allen in the slot and PU blitzes the less mobile and vulnerable Clausen every play. Allen is the most effective RB at picking up the blitz. The other RBs have not proven effective at blitz protection and this week is critical to protect Clausen. Allen is the top ND RB rushing and receiving. He's also the most prepared for Clausen's audibles. If
Jimmy sees the blitz and changes the play, Allen will be ready - to block, to run a route, to carry the ball.

Also Allen hurt his ankle in practice Wednesday.

With all the work Kamara put in during the offseason, I'd really like to see him succeed. I think his biggest obstacle is his own psyche. The guy has all the natural ability. Hopefully he's gained some confidence. I really think it would be nice to have someone who can get the jump-balls Clausen throws in the red zone besides Rudolph and Golden. We all know the guy loves to block too.
