Any big time program where the stadium is on campus is probably worthwhile to go to just for the experience. I have been to five of the on campus stadiums, and ND with all of the pageantry and tradition is by far the best of them. USC and the Coliseum is by far the worst of my group.

Second place goes to Death Valley where it's not the football team marching to the stadium that's the highlight. Next would be Beaver Stadium at PSU, and then UGA, which is also a great place for a game but way too overcrowded on campus. Like I said USC is the worst, even on ND game day, nothing much is happening on campus. You end up just waiting outside the Coliseum until the gates open, then go into the worst stadium of the lot as well. The acoustics are terrible, and even if you have decent seats, the view is poor because all of the seating is so far from the field. It also does not help the experience when your team seldom wins there, but maybe 2008 will be the year.

I have not been to Columbus, Ann Arbor, or East Lansing, but just about everyone I know who is an ND fan who has been tells me it's pretty barbaric at all three places.

BTW, the worst place by far for a college game (especially if you are an ND fan) of all of them is not an on-campus stadium. Anybody want to guess where I am talking about.

I totally agree with you IUB about the Colisium. I basically grew up in Orange County, (though I was born in Mishawaka) it is by far the worst stadium I've ever been to. You'd think with ND coming in and how big of a rivalry they have, there would be at least some cool stuff to do b4 the game but theres NOTHING! It just proves to me that SC fans are a bunch of frontrunning, spoiled, type of fans who only attend the games when their team is actually good. It is quite sad cuz I talked 2 many of them and they think that they beat us every year in the history of our rivalry! Its hilerious. Anyways, I forgot to mention that I'd love to go to Autzen Stadium to see the Ducks. THat place looks crazy! I think I'm gonna go to Huskie Stadium cuz my sis lives out there now. Anybody been to Autzen?

It's my lifelong dream to visit SB for a game. Well, at least since h.s.

Hey Stone, I'm actually selling my SC-ND season tickets cuz I'm going to be outta town but they prolly cost u a pretty penny cuz of the outragous amount of money that ND makes me and my bro donate to them every year! Anyways, let me be the first to offer you a ticket to the GT- ND home opener cuz you must see a game at ND. It will be my deed of the year! I know u have a fam but I only have 2 season tickets so lemme kno.

I have never actually been in Autzen, but my wife is from Oregon, and there are very few places that can match Eugene for scenery, maybe the AFA stadium. If you ever do go to Autzen, you should drive through the Wilamette and Deschutes National Forests from Eugene to Sisters, and then on to Bend. That trip along with touring Olympia National Park in Washington provides the most spectacular scenery I have ever had the pleasure of viewing.

Trust me...you don't want to see a game in the Horse-poo. There to many individuals which resemble this guy down there.

Unless you enjoy "Dueling Banjos", my suggestion would be to stay as far away from that ceasepool as possible.

Thx for the suggestions, I'll definetly do so if I ever do get up to Eugene. I've driven through Oregon a few years ago when I went up to Seattle to see a buddy of mine and I must say that it is incredible. Just driving on the Highway and seeing all of those beautiful trees is amazing. I must suggest to anybody who like to camp out that there is an incredible place called MT. Shasta lake and it is unbelievable. I drove by it and it was the best sight these eyes have ever seen (except for ND stadium of coarse!)

Love the bashing of the 'Shoe...but it really is the best place to see a game plus Hiney Gate across the street from the Stadium after the game...Priceless.

At any rate, I'd love to see games at Beaver Stadium-PSU...I'd also like to see a game at Kinnick Stadium-Iowa...Autzen-Oregon strikes me as a wonderful place to see a game as well. I've seen a game at South Carolina and I loved it, people there are gracious, and always willing to extend a handshake, plus its a pretty neat stadium, loved it...

Anyone that wants to get to a game at the 'Shoe just let me know, I'll provide a good time for ya...don't let all the other unruley fans there turn you away, because it really is a great atmosphere on Saturdays!

Buckeyebacker- nice reasonable post. I am a liitle surprised to see you back here with a post though, since the last time you were here on 1/9/07, you left this memorable one.

"if you think Troy Smith is going anywhere on the second day you are crazy, he did nothing tonite to hurt himself, the fact that he only threw that ball 14 times....yeah thats right 14 times....Ohio State only got about 40 plays the entire game, and even when he did drop back he never had a chance....plain and simple, but you Irish fans are so accustomed to seeing guys throw 15-35 148 and two INT's....."

I guess we were all crazy, huh? or maybe the last pick in the 5th round really did not happen on the second day.:kissmy: Anyway, look at the bright side, at least he did get picked on the second day. Irish fans don't forget. See ya later.

"The shoe" itself is a nice stadium. And I suppose if I were a fan of anOSU, the atmosphere would be great. But it's hard not to let unruley fans turn you away when they are in your face-cursing, spitting, making osbcene comments to/about your girlfriend or wife. All this for wearing an ND hat. I'm sorry. It's one of the worst game settings in the country for visiting fans. Booing and rowdiness and noise are OK. But anOSU fans take things too far.

I watched one opposing fan stick up for himself, only to get pelted by beers and who knows what else. And it wasn't just a couple people involved. It was a total mob mentality.

Good job on finding this. I forgot about that. I remember how try smith is a better QB then Quinn from all the OSU fans.

I almost drove by the stadium yesterday since I was less then a mile from the OSU campus, but thought I would prefer to wait in the airport for 3 and half hours for my flight instead. Yes OSU would have been on my way back to the airport.

To be honest I never thought about going to any stadium unless it was an ND game. I have a mild interest in FSU b/c a friend of mine at ND was from that part of Fla...she said the whole stadium had a great spirit and atmosphere. This was before we played them (yes I'm old) and now I despise them almost as much as the other Fla. schools.

Whoever said Air Force was on their list, I highly recommend it. Mountain backdrop, cool pregame show, and a nice little stadium. We were in the end zone for this year's ND-AFA game and still felt we had a great view. The only drawback is the horrible traffic bottleneck after the game. I recommend lanterns, a charcoal grill, and a camp stove cuz you're gonna be there a while and may need hot food/drinks to stay warm after dark.
