What is the "uniform surprise"?

Finally back to a computer after my trip to South Bend (yeah, I am one of the 17 people in this country without mobile access). The tailgating and atmosphere were incredible. The way ND played was a let down. The helmets were amazing. Kinda of glad they didn't do anything else with the uniforms.

These seems too "fake"...like when you add gold foiling to some craft project. Everyone knows it isn't "real" gold, just like we know the helmets aren't "real gold material".

Also, I heard that the refs were going to wear crimson and gold, but decided black and white was more intimidating. And would you just look at it! They took us to the woodshed!

I have to respectfully disagree. There is a slight design in the gold portion of this helmet that does not exist in the recently unveiled new gold helmet.

Side Question: Normally both teams wear a new uniform, or at least that has seemed to be the trend this year. My guess is Maryland will have some sort of new uniform to wear along with ours. So my question is this: Are we going to wear a new uniform vs. Stanford as they are supposed to be wearing their Nike Pro Combats that night?
