I’ve been working through the covenant by James Michener. 1200 page historical fiction on South Africa but way more entertaining than it sounds. Has anyone read other books by him?
I read it several years ago. I don't remember that much about it other than the fact that I liked it very much. I liked most of Michener's stuff. If you like his approach of telling the story of a place through the eyes of multiple generations of the same handful of families, give Edward Rutherfurd a read. He's done several really good books of that sort on Russia, London, NYC, Ireland, and SW England. All really good.

Thanks I’ll add him to my list. This book reminds me a bit of 100 years of solitude without the magical realism. I like the generations of family sagas
