Just wrapped up Godless on Netflix. Seven episodes Western. E1 lacked a little, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Jeff Daniels did such a good job that you really disliked him in his character.

1st?! mannn... I think I'm through about 15, but I show a bunch of the episodes when my classes get to WWII so that helps.
It's rather heavy subject matter and not sunshine and rainbows in terms of entertainment. Not for me anyway. There are great war epic movies and series, but do I want to go out of my way to watch them over and over? Typically not.

I finished Masters of the Air last week and Band of Brothers came up in this thread earlier. I watched it when it first aired. I was 23 years old. I never watched it again. I just thought it was ok. I though The Pacific was just ok. Motivated by Masters of the Air and the convo in this thread a few weeks ago, I wanted to watch Band of Brothers again.

BoB and Pacific are both on Netflix right now. I'm 7 episodes through BoB. The first five are absolutely incredible. I felt like Bastogne slowed things down in 6 and 7, but it was heavy subject matter for obvious reasons.

Anyway, it's really....fucking good.

Watched ‘Ricky Stanicky’ last night. Absolutely terrible. Didn’t laugh once. Don’t waste your time.

Arguably the greatest show ever made. It just keeps getting better and better. I actually envy you.
It changed television forever and ushered in a new century. It's brilliant. I watch it once a year and catch new things every time. It is good to the point that you miss certain things in the background that are really quite subtle.

They did and said things that even being on HBO pushed the envelope pretty hard.

Season 1, Episode 1 has perhaps the best line ever from Anthony Jr.: "So what, no fucking ziti now?" LOL. Really all started there.

Finished Band of Brothers.

Episode 9 was extremely difficult to get through. My Uncle Gino (my grandmother's brother) was in a unit that liberated a Nazi concentration camp. He told Uncle Al, this brother, about it when they got home with no details and never spoke of it again.

Turns out my dad has watched BoB at least half a dozen times.

Started The Pacific.

If you are not currently watching Shogun on FX, definitely start. The subtitles are crazy, yes, but the show is really really good.

Pretty common with those guys and that war. We knew my father in law was in WWII, but it wasn't until he passed that we found he was a hero that saved his unit.

Much respect for Uncle Gino.

Just finished the new HBO Alex Jones documentary. Tough watch. Special place in hell for Alex Jones and those type of people.

Looks like every household in America is about to be watching the Oregon State Beavers as the premier team on the CW. I think this is a really good move for the CW to become a top player in sports broadcasting. Amazing they were able to get OSU at this price. Looks like we have another program working their way to Independent Powerhouse status like us. I just hope we get another chance at em (perhaps in the playoffs?) to even our record against them.

Through szn 3 of Sopranos for those of you who I know are fans (@SeekNDestroy @Jiggafini19Deux to name a couple)

Is it just me or did szn three feel like it was more of a set up for szn 4 and beyond, almost like a transition season?? I felt like the season was building, building, building..... only to kind of end of a "meh" note. I think there may be more to come with the Jackie Jr event, there seems to be a rift forming between Paulie and Tony, the Russians plot seems to be building but then nothing happened, Meadow and Tony's relationship is getting complicated, etc. Kind of a "meh" season for me, altogether.

Maybe it was just because of how good season 2 was, a letdown was inevitable? Still loved it, highly entertained, just not as good as the first two, IMO.

There is a couple lulls in the show. I can't specifically recall which seasons or parts of seasons.

The worst season of this show is probably better than the best season of most. You're going to have to finish them all and then go back to appreciate them all. I Don't know of anyone that has ever given up on it and you'd be foolish to.

1 and 2 are great. 3 and 4 are consistent and grounded. They're probably somewhere in the middle if you're into ranking them. Season 3 had a lot of subplots and there was a lot of darkness. You get Pine Barrens, possibly the best episode of them all.

Most people I know like Season 2 the best because of Richie and Big Pussy's storylines. It doesn't peak, I assure you.

I certainly have no interest in giving up on the show, as I said I'm enjoying it immensely, even Szn 3.

Just felt like season 3 pumped the breaks a tad compared to the prior 2 seasons. As Jigg said, Season 2 really ended with a bang, perhaps that was all it was. Can't wait to start szn 4 tn

Watching 3 Body Problem this week. It's pretty good, it gets a little off track in the middle episodes for me but I'm still looking forward to the conclusion. 2 episodes left.

Finished The Pacific.

Band of Brothers is still better. Overall both are very good and hold up all of these years later. Might go another round with Master of the Air again now.

If I remember correctly, I think Grandma Soprano passed away right before filming started on season three and they had to make a lot of last minute adjustments.

That checks out. She passed away in June '00, szn 3 aired in March '01.
If you look closely, you can see that she’s cgi.
Nancy Marchand's death definitely had an effect on the Season 3 writing. She was so good as Livia Soprano in the first two seasons, too.

You'll see what seeds bloom and which one do not. We love closure when it comes to shows and movies, but David Chase didn't always give you that with The Sopranos.

Season 3 was very dark, especially in the middle, and it got a lot of backlash at the time. It was 2001 when all of this aired. Dr. Melfi, Ralph and the stripper, Bobby Sr., the Mustang Sally beating.

“I look over, your Uncle Joons got laser beams shooting out of his eyes”.
Paulie Walnuts is the best character on that show by far.
