Sierra Nevada Harvest Newly Developed Hop IPA

Semi light body, crisp. Nice little bite from the hops, but not overly strong. A little sweet on the nose. Fairly sweet overall. It's good, but I'm afraid I may have wrecked my palate from earlier with the wine and a few sweets to truly give a good review. Overall I'd say it's good and I'd recommend it. Very very drinkable.

Thank you. Now it is time for me to go put some pressure on my local places to get it.

Some Lagavulin 12yo CS 2009. Nice smoked fish, campfire smoke, brine, a little vanilla and lemon, and some oak.

I apologize I can't provide better tasting notes, but yes. Definitely dial up the pressure. Or just make a trip to someplace with a source.

Edit: The nose is very strange to me. Sweet. Almost smells like incense.

How is it?

Pretty good but nothing special. They used all Australian hops so it is interesting. I have 5 more to drink, so it will be interesting to see how my opinion changes over the rest of the 6 pack.

Now Green Flash Green Bullet Triple IPA. Pretty good but definitely falls short of the best Triple IPAs out there (Knee Deep Simtra, Stone RuinTen, etc.). I much prefer their Palate Wrecker DIPA as well.

12 pack of Sierra Nevada Ocktoberfest... First thoughts are pretty disappointing, I expect much more from SN... Too bitter for an Ocktoberfest and the spice notes are too subtle... One of the worst SN experiences I've had...

They're still my brewery tho... Waiting for a Tumbler to make it out here.

Ironically, Sam Summer is one of their worst beers IMO and Sam Octoberfest is one of their best. Still, have yet to be impressed with any Sam Adams offerings.

I like their Ole Fezziwig in the winter, and Lat 48 and Noble Pils are good ones too.. SA has very few bad beers, but very few great ones either... Summer Ale is for the hitter youth and teenage girls... ;)

So far I have only seen Tumbler in the Fall Variety 12 packs.

A taste-off between Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale and Oskar Blues IPA
Oskar Blues IPA 6.43%
N: Tropical and citrus fruit. Most is almost nonexistent. Some melon as well. A little spiciness.
P: Definitely tropical fruit and citrus, the slight spiciness carries over, and a touch of herbalness. Definitely has a fair amount of bitterness (kind of like grapefruit peel or orange peel). A touch of biscuity malt.
F: Dry and bitter with spicy tropical fruit and citrus. A little melon hangs around as well.

Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale 6.5%
N: Grapefruit and other citrus, pine, and some malt (mostly cracker like but a touch of caramel).
P: Big orange marmalade, pine, some bready notes and a little grapefruit. Some caramel malt notes as well.
F: Dry, mostly pine with just a hint of the orange.

I really think that Dale's Pale Ale should be classified as an IPA. I oddly enough had a slight preference for Dale's Pale Ale though they are close in terms of enjoyment for me. I feel that the IPA could use just a little bit more malt.

My wife grabbed some Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin for herself, I just had a sip... Much better than I remember, great balance, sweet but not too sweet, I'm gonna steal at least one of these from her... Very surprised as I remember it being eh and I don't like anything blue moon as a general rule, maybe it's comparing it to this SN Oktoberfest that makes it stand out??..

Picked up a few bottles of Stone's 19th Anniversary Thunderstruck IPA. Really enjoyed it. It is drier than most west coast IPAs, quite hoppy, but the citrus tones really help disguise the true hoppiness and make it just an all around kick ass beer
