I picked up that Clausen is going to be the starter against PSU. The way he talked about how he used JC yesterday to make sure to get him under fire to take some snaps so that whether its next week or whenever that it would not be the first time he took a snap. He expects Clausen to step up and take it. I say he starts.

I think you're reading way too much into this. All he was saying that he will play at some point this season, and he wanted to get him some snaps then so his first snaps in a game weren't in a situation that actually mattered. Yes that may be next week ( I think he will play next week, but not start,) or he may not see a start until halfway through. We really can't rule anything out at this point, but I just think you're reading a little too much into what he said.

I think that your a half empty glass guy.

No, i think he's right. I watched the presser too, and there's no way you could decide who would be the starter. I personally think it's probably going to be ES, because he's still been getting more reps for longs. JC might start later games, or even this one, but I'd say the safest money is on ES.

Clausen will be the man. He had a level of poise that we saw last year.

Give props to Sharpley though, he was pretty poised as well.

Demetrius is the man. The genius coaching staff revealed to the nation their complete effort for the last few months. Will they abandon their soul because of a fumble attributable to the o-line?

Clausen is the man. 4-6 1 over throw(rather over throw than under) and one dropped pass that would have been a tough catch. Clausen leads us to a good season(good season for this year, next year a good season would be 10 wins)

They called a few pass plays and Jones decided he needed to run. That's not how you play the blitz.

Thats why he shouldnt be the starter. It looked like he didnt even look at the WR's. He just started to run into a 8 man front. Yeah i doubt anyone could run through GT's 8 man rush. He did not show poise, he did not show that he was the front runner and he did not show that he was comfortable at all.

This is why Clausen needs to start.

Bingo. Right on.

DD may end up being the starting QB...but he is going to have to earn it with better play than that.

JC looked good out there, but he was not playing against the full #1 GT squad. I do believe he will win the job, but ALL 3 QBs showed potential last Saturday...I would not throw any of them out just yet.

Honestly, Jones should not be the starter. For two reasons: One, he is not a pocket passer, hes a running QB. Weis needs to go back to his Pro-style offense like the past two years and DJ is not the right QB for that offense. Two, he does not seem to be in control of the offense and he gets down on himself and gives up way to fast.(on the sidelines sitting down not talking to anybody)

I would like to see D. Jones get another shot at being the starter with a typically strong Charlie game plan (as a pocket passer) and not some run and gun option type. Run the offense you know Chuck do it......do it

Have you seen him throw lately to validate this statement?

I think DJ deserves another chance to start, that was a pretty solid defense he was going against. Honestly I stopped watching the game, so I didn't see Clausen. Sharpley looked like he had control of the plays, but he was not poised. He was hopping around and doing a happy feet dance. So, I think DJ should get another chance in the base pro style offense.

Yeah, I got to think Evan will start at Happy Val. Don't you? both did indeed look above average for sure... both promising...

agreed again... Man Ram hit it on the head I believe... Chris Leak Tim Teabow... I doubt very highly we've seen the last of DJ under snap this season... hell, he MIGHT still start against PSU, but one has to believe the long term is to have in in on situations...

There must be a reason why he didnt throw a decent pass. He isnt as accurate as the other two. The one play when he got sacked, he had Allen wide open to the left of him with no body covering him. Then he under threw Hughes or Aldridge, forgot who it was, when it was a pretty easy throw to make. Maybe thats why he took ran with it, and thats why Weis went to WVU to get some designed option running plays. Well it doesnt work against a blitzing defense.

Sorry to be a negative Nancy, but we should start a QB who can take a beating and not put our "future" in there. I would guess Sharply because he's a junior, can get the ball out quickly, and take a beating. Since Jones can't throw, or didn't show he could Sat, I would say Sharply

SOme could understandably think that way... I'd bet the farm CW never does though...

Well how about putting the best player out there to win us games THIS season. So that would be Clausen or Sharpley.

Play ALL the best players. I dont care if your a 5th year senior or a true freshman, play the BEST players of every position. Theres a reason some of the 5th year players were backups their whole college career.

Maybe Charlie could use DJ like he did Failia(sp) and McDougal in 93. When we get inside the 5 bring DJ to run the option. I like Clausen, but I think on the road CW might go with Evan. Evan showed a lot sat. just on the one hit he took and got back up. Whoever start in Happy Valley has got to play smart the first part of the game. PSU and their fans will be jacked because they feel we are down and its their turn to kick butt. They want revenge and believe based on the GT game that they can add to the list of beat downs we have taken in big games. Hopefully we re-group and win this one.
