Kicks were almost miraculous. Watch them again when you can.

But coaches and athletes and fans can surely learn and appreciate something from this great game. What a friggen classic.

Dude, if Navy catches that pass on the 14 yard line, .... they are on the FOURTEEN YARDLINE.... 500 inches from scoring 21 points in 90 seconds with time for 4 plays and all the momentum.

This is a good thing? This is a game to feel good about?

Having a lead at one point is about as meaningless as taking your sister out on a date.

I don't mind people supporting our team at all, but there is support and there is delusion.

so we shouldnt have big dreams? we should just accept the fact that usc will beat us? we should just roll over and die? do you even know what the definition of a fan is?

Team played like champions. CW took his foot off the gas.

He validated G-Tate's stupid already famous quote. They think swagger cums before the win.

Appreciate the pseudointel' numbers, but, I will refer to a funny thought: If my sister had a dick, she would be my brother. - Socrates and Amadeus

And I would have to confess to weird stuff with my sister...

Are you Mark May?

Wow, Psuedo intel numbers? You are kidding right? You weren't at all worried at the end? You weren't a little uneasy by the reaction of CW at the end?

This is why ND fans that lack a sense of reality make the rest of the college football world ignore them. It has been an eternity since ND football has mattered. Since then some branch of ND fans cling to groundless emotions, "played like champions" instead of actual bare facts. I guess 5 turnovers is "playing like a champion."

seriously... 5 turnovers is unsound football at the freshman level... and not "pseudo intellectual"

I have really good feeling about that game for some reason too.

Hey if Oregon St. can do it why can't we? If Stanford(in 07) can do it why can't we?

The Stanford game was inexplicable. OSU, on the other hand, is actually a pretty good team.

You can't measure heart....but what good is it when the coaching staff doesn't let you go out and lay it on the line. CW's coaching style is starting to resemble Willingham and Davie's styles: conservative, field postion, play not to lose. The kids can have all the heart they want but they need to be allowed to let it show.

I say let it all hang out against USC. Put it on the fucking line. Spread the field with Kamara, Tate, Allen, Rudolph, etc. Let those guys fucking run wild and let JC sling. FUCK USC.

How do you think ND's players would react if they heard our fan base saying stuff like this?
If all of our players feel like beating USC is an unrealistic goal, then they definitely don't have a chance. Any game that we go into thinking we are going to lose, we will. Our players need to have some confidence and support, otherwise we will get walloped again this year by USC.

Like I said in another thread. Dont like the Irish? Cheer for someone else. Just come in here and tell me how bad they are? They are not bad. A little soft and lack the killer instinct? Maybe. But, I see them turning it on. I have seen bad years when they finished strong. I also remember another year when the haters said we could not beat USC. The USC qb was Peete..unstoppable... Well he got his ass planted in the first quarter and we rolled up their ass. End of story. What is it we say about the odds? To hell with USC. KICK THEIR ASS IRISH! Iam out of this place ...depressing.

I agree completely. I'm tired of the gameplan that seems as if we are trying not to lose. I'd like to see ND actually go for the win. Be aggressive, be nasty. If we try to put points on the board and fail, I'll feel better about the loss than if we tried to just kill the clock and lose. We didn't even have 30 points on the scoreboard. Damn, give the fans something to cheer about. Weis does plenty off the field for us to know he has a heart, some compassion. Check that with the ushers on the way in the stadium. When the games over, win or lose, pick it back up and be the compassionate man. But for 3 freakin' hours our team needs to play like they want it.

Man, I was getting pissed off just writing that. Too bad that doesn't do the team any good.

BTW, I still support CW, but I'm still waiting for something to cheer about. It needs to start happening soon!!

You know JC has never lost in Cali

This stat is more interesting than most think. Maybe Jimmy will come ready to play and show us all what we have been wating for. The Lord knows we will need him to have a career day! I like this thread, it's genius. I really hope we can go to LA and take a dump on their living room floor! (metaphor for upsetting them at their place) lol

Whoopsie doopsie. Guess I hit a lil buttonsy.

I was worried at the end, but I really believed ND would win. (I posted it on the gameday thread - read those thoughts - they are my fast paced observations)

Bare facts are that ND is 6-4.

My impression is that ND is gonna win a lot more. And that ND football matters to everyone. Because they God, military, smarts, athletics, and football. (and lady soccer and yada yada)

If the administration did fire CW, I wonder if the obese community would be outraged? Remeber how mad some African-Americans, like Mark May, were when we fired Willingham? They thought Ty was fired because of his race. I wonder if ESPN would have the Schwab guest host College Football Live in order to play the "waist card"? Hmm...

LMFAO! Thats pretty good. Lets stop wishing for USC right now, because first we have Syracuse, and then there's Thanksgiving.... after these two things we can all make our Christmas wishes and hopefully that Saturday will be a good one

I agree. It goes to show that the contract extension was totally absurd. (Since TW and CW had virtually the same coaching record after 3 years.... and one was fired ... and the other was given a stupidly excessive contract extension.) ... wait... that does look odd. Same results and one guy is fired and the other is awarded, meanwhile the program treads water... Lee Atwater was right, perception is reality.

Frankly no extensions should ever be given unless and NC is won.

The IE members Christmas list is like my sons lol! Laptop, PS3, Nano, 20 video games, etc. I wish that ND would kick USC's ass too but the fact that I am a realist does not make me any less of a fan. Seems like everytime your a realist, not saying JC is Jesus Christ himself, or CW is God on here your fan hood gets questioned. Well to steal a quote from a rap song with a few changed words, "You might see me on the boards, but shorty you don't know me!"

Not at all. I am saying that CW was doing no better than TW and got a big fat extension for no reason except to justify his hiring.

SO, no TW wasn't unreasonably fired for race. CW was unreasonably hired for zero HC experience and unreasonably extended for no good reason. NO BETTER THAN TW. And no one complained at the time that the program, for 10 years, is tied to him like an anchor. I saw it. I saw a bad hire and a pipe dream of a decision.

You have to figure that a buyout won't cost the school much since Charlie backed them in to those 2 BCS bowls that had monster payouts they had to split with no one.

The selective memory of some people on this board simply blows my mind. How anyone can say that we backed in to the BCS in 2005 is just beyond me. We lost 2 games by a combined 6 points!!! One in OT, and the other to the national runner up. How is that not BCS worthy?

You simply are saying that you don't know football when you say CW was no better than Ty when he got his extention. When Ty started off hot., we were SQUEAKING past teams. I said it at the time, we were better than with Davie but we were doing was was close games (very important, but not better than what CW did). But with CW the team had a swagger and a confidence that we hadn't seen in years (and haven't seen since sadly enough). They were blowing teams up, and they passed the eyeball test that Ty's teams didn't.

Ty's firing = justified.

CW's hiring = who else were we going to get? He was our 4th friggin' choice!!! And he took us to 2 BCS bowl games right away!

CW's extention = way premature.

Firing CW = shortsighted. Give him another year, and make sure you sing his praises when we win 10 games next year. I'll be here if he loses, and I'll admit that I was wrong about him being the right guy...

You could not be more wrong.

I said when CW got his extension he was no better than TW. I was wrong CW was WORSE!

Charlie Weiss got his extension SEVEN games into his ND career.October 30, 2005 ESPN - Notre Dame extends Weis through 2015 - College Football

They were 5-2 and ranked 9th.

Seven years into TW career ND was UNDEFEATED becoming the only first-year coach in Notre Dame history to win 10 games. For his efforts he was named the ESPN/Home Depot College Coach of the Year, the Scripps College Coach of the Year, the Black Coaches Association Male Coach of the Year and the George Munger Award College Coach of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club

#21 Maryland........................W 22-0
Purdue..................................W 24-17 ranked #23
#7 Michigan...........................W 25-23 ranked #20
at Michigan State....................W 21-17 ranked #12
Stanford.................................W 31-17 ranked #9
Pittsburgh...............................W 14-6 ranked #8
at #18 Air Force......................W 21-14 ranked #7
#11 Florida State.....................W 34-24 ranked #6

those are TW's first eight games that you say aren't impressive enough. Beating four ranked teams. Compare those with CW's first 7. 3-1 against ranked teams and losing to an unranked MSU team at home.... remember the flag?

I wont sign praises unless ND wins a game that is a statement. It is tough to find a game that Brady Quinn won that was a statement win.

I should hope ND continues to win more. UW and Wazzou are a combined 1-20. ND is 2-0 entering the year.

Sing his praises for 10 wins? Next year I expect nothing less than 11 and a BCS bowl victory. Do I expect NC every year? No. I do expect a team that can compete with anyone however.

Eyeball test eyeball test eyeball test. You can give me stats until you are blue in the face. Ty's teams were squaeking by, and CW's teams played with a swagger and a confidence that Ty's teams couldn't sniff. Did you watch the games? I did. And history proves that Ty wasn't such a great coach after all. The jury is still out on CW, especially after Ty left the cupboard so damn bare. The jury isn't out on Ty; they're at home in bed after rendering their vedict abot 3 weeks ago.

Again, most stats are for dorks. They can be twisted anyway you want. Watch the games. Then tell me. And Ty was NOT better than CW his first year...
