Please, tell me how this is a PI call on Prosise or Fuller. Ramsey attacks CJ immediately holding on to CJ's upper pad while holding on to the back of CJ. Ramsey doesn't even attempt to fight through CJ and even pulls on CJ's jersey. As for Fuller, as he begins his 'slant' Darby steps in front of him and immediately engages to prevent him from 'slanting'. FSU had busted coverage and it was obvious. Doesn't matter how you feel, ND got absolutely hosed on a bullshit call.

Appreciate the reps but none needed. I ran this by a mod so I wasn't 'starting another thread for no reason.' Its an absolute bullshit call and needs to be called out as one.

:( makes me sad bro. All I can think of is the money that is involved in all of this. Absolute shit call. That is the best game I have seen since 93'. I hate that it was spoiled on such a bs call.

Is this worse than the phantom block in the back during the Colorado game? Time may tell.

Anyone who knows how the actual rule is written? Defense clearly initiated contact, doesn't CJ have right to run him off?

I am going to be unpopular but Fuller may have been blocking (no way CJ did, he was too busy being mauled by the defensive back) having said that they is no way in fucking hell that 99% of refs call that in an end of game situation, especially with how loose they had been with holding penalties all game long.

I can't wait for the official interpretation to be announced. I also can't wait to see how Kelly handles this. Probably with class.

Who did they call it on? CJ? Fullers guy was man in my opinion and would have never got there. i'm thinking the guy that pressed CJ was supposed to funnel him inside and get to flat...but shit, he engaged way to much.

I actually hope the opposite. I want him to walk in there and defend his players and say how the refs ripped the game away from his team and take the fine that comes along with it. Turn it into an us vs the world mentality.

Can you imagine how David Shaw would handle this? LOL

Cross posting BGIF's post on this because he's absolutely right. Had Fuller kept running his route this would have been an Irish win.

Wrong player. Justifiable call.

Prosise, #20, was jammed at the LOS and pushed, fought his man into the endzone. I think one can weakly argue he was blocking but he was jammed and remained entangled with that defender. IF Prosise WAS blocking he did it with finesse.

So where's the foul?

Tell me about Fuller, #7, on this play.

Watch Fuller and the defender become "entangled", be a jam or a block, as he and Prosise together wall off the third defender who is supposed to covering Robinson as well as the two guys covering them.

Continue to watch him as Fuller engages his man AND TURNS HIS HEAD TO WATCH THE PLAY. Sorry but Fuller played his hand poorly. "Receivers" trying to get open, fight to get free and look for the ball. I see no attempt to disengage to get free TO BE A POTENTIAL RECEIVER but worse I see a blocker looking for his ball carrier NOT for the ball. Fuller's head turn sells that his function was blocking.

It was a well designed play executed well by QB and WR. Unfortunately one of the actors in the play overplayed his part, tipping off the ref who has a clear line of sight to him and sees the blocker turning his eyes toward the actual receiver (in line with the ref, eyeball to eyeball) and NOT looking toward the QB to find the ball which is what a receiver would do.

If the ref called the foul on 20 he had the wrong number but right foul. Refs calling a false start or a hold on the wrong OL or RB doesn't overturn a flag on technical grounds.

The clearly called the penalty on Fuller. It is only that idiot Herbstreit trying to sell it as CJ. The call on Fuller is questionable at best as 1) he has the right to run a route and Darby interrupted it - good defense; 2) it would have had zero impact on the result of the play and therefore should never had been called in that situation; and 3) worst case there should have been defensive holding against CJ - ND got called on that a few times tonight to have off setting penalties - best case we decline that and win; 4) Other ESPN folks are almost quoting what Herbbie said word for word; like someone in the studio wrote it for all of them (sorry Wizard - just going all in on ESPN conspiracy here; but it was weird to here the exact same words); 5) The sociopath theory that Lax stated (and copied from one of my earlier post - haha bud) is so f'in valid; and 6) Fuck Winston and FSU.

I'm upset, but I don't think this post is sour grapes, but valid points. This sucks almost as bad as the Rocket return in the Orange Bowl.

What a dick bag Mike P is....

Pereira: Kudos to officials for OPI call against Notre Dame | FOX Sports

For those that don't know who Pereira is....

Mike Pereira is a former Vice President of Officiating (formerly Senior Director of Officiating) for the National Football League (NFL). He first took over the position in 2001, succeeding Jerry Seeman. He was also a game official in the NFL for two seasons (1996 and 1997) as a side judge on the officiating crew headed by referee Mike Carey.[1] He wore uniform number 77, which is now worn by side judge-turned-three-time Super Bowl referee Terry McAulay.

Pereira appeared on the NFL Network show, NFL Total Access, during the "Official Review" segment, to discuss key calls made during the previous week's games with host Rich Eisen every Wednesday during the season.

In a Conference Championship edition of "Official Review" on January 21, 2009, Pereira confirmed that he would be retiring from the position of Vice President of Officiating after the 2009 season.[2]

In June 2010, it was announced that Pereira would be joining Fox Sports to serve as a rules analyst for the network's college and NFL coverage.[3] He began a column on FoxSports.com and started to provide commentary during Fox Sports football telecasts. In 2012, Sports Illustrated named Pereria as one of the NFL's most indispensable broadcasting talents, saying that "Viewers have longed for broadcasters to provide accurate explanations from the NFL's byzantine rule book, and Pereira, thankfully, has taken the burden off ex-jocks and announcers".[4] Michael Hiestand of USA Today wrote that "after Fox's groundbreaking move to put the ex-NFL vice president of officiating on-air, Pereira proved to be a candid voice — not a shill for the almighty NFL".[5] However, Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times wrote that "Pereira has assumed the role of the overzealous defense attorney ... his appearances generally conclude with him concluding that the referees have gotten it right yet again ... Analyst is the title that FOX hangs on Pereira, but advocate is more appropriate".[6]

Pereira also sparked coverage by others in the media when he criticized the commentary of Monday Night Football announcer Jon Gruden, calling him out as a "blowhard ... who spouts off when he doesn’t know what he’s talking about".[7] Pereira specifically felt that Gruden "butchered" the analysis of two defenseless receiver plays during the telecast of an Atlanta Falcons-New Orleans Saints game.[8][9] However, Doug Farrar of Yahoo! Sports thought that Pereira should have instead taken the higher road, and Fox should "lay down the law to Pereira [and] needs to be told to put the agendas away".[10]

From February to June 2011, Pereira was the Pac-10's interim coordinator of officiating, charged with implementing changes in the conference's officiating program. Current Pac-12 coordinator of officiating Tony Corrente retained Pereira on his staff as a consultant through the Pac-12's 2011-2012 football season.[11][12]

Would love to see Gruden whoop his @$$

We better take it out of their hands then and not leave it to that last drive. We got at least 3 road games a year down here for the foreseeable future.

Fuller was being blocked and was attempting to run through the block. BGIF brings up Fuller's head but watch the video again, he slants, gets held up by Darby, looks to Golson who threw the ball to C-Rob and then Fuller looks at C-Rob. So no, again, that's not PI.

#3 is very fucking true. Contact or not, nobody had a play on the ball but Robinson, a 5 yard penalty would have been a much more surmountable obstacle.
