The only time the irish should play in a BCS game is if they were ranked #3 in the final BCS standings. Just my overinflated "we're better than you" attitude talking.

Screw the suot conference bids... Pac 10/Big 10 the Rose Bowl unless one champ is not in the top ten and annouce the title game teams the day after the BCS Bowls are played...

This is the cloest to happy everyone is gonna ever get... you keep the bowls... the reg. season and rivalry games still mean something... AND you won't have teams "Not getting their shot... sorry, there will not be three unbeaten teams at the end of the bowls... and if they all have loses then hey... you had a whole season to show you belong in the top two... didn't to it, should have won all your games...

no system is perfect... moving the title game back one week is the best way to make everyone happy (I threw the Pac 10/ Big 10 thing in there for no other reason then a soft spot for that one personally)

Bottom line... no playoff... ever... we can have one sport in this country were every gameday actually means seomthing can't we??

Another thing I would do (if bowl systems AND playoffs weren't all about money) is drop about half the current bowls...

if you are not in the top 25 or receiving votes for it, you should not go bowling... far too many bowls that don't mean dickle... Any bowl between top 25 teams has something to say about the state of either program, mo. into next year and impacts recruiting...

all the toilet bowls can be flushed imo... but it will never happen... just like ditching the wildcards in playoffs... because it's all about the dollars, or more accurately the potential dollars

If only the top 25 can go to bowls, one team is left to play with themselves, and we all know that is a NO_NO

pretty much... my bro in law is a UT fan who agreed with me on the BCS until the horns were 'screwed' out of a title shot in favor of OU two years ago... now it's the devil...

my response,... maybe you should focus less on the BCS and focus more on fixing your sh1ttya$$ secondary that let Oklahoma State score an embarrassingly easy touchdown with no time left... thereby allowing you to get left out by the BCS

I wish there was an easy answer to this whole BCS system. I actually like the idea of some sort of playoff scenario with the unbeaten teams. I also don't like the fact that a team with 3 or 4 losses could find themselves in a BCS game when you have let's say 3 teams in a conference (ie..,Big Ten) with only one loss a piece. The system is definently flawed and the best teams in CFB are not the ones necessarily playing in the BCS bowls. Who really wants to see a 11-1 vs a 7-4 team for example? I for one might watch it, but only as an upset special game to watch. I would much rather watch two evenly matched teams than a game like that.

Actually, none of this stuff really bothers me. I just want to watch two really good football teams play football [and if several bowls can create interesting match-ups, that's great.] Somebody's going to be named national champ and they'll be the only team well remembered for that season. If it's not ND [or, for me and my brothers, WVU or VA TECH], then I'll forget them, too.

On the other hand several hundreds of players will enjoy a lifetime of memories and telling whopper stories about how they blocked someone's butt off in the x______ bowl. If ND gets undefeated, we'll play for the big bragging right. If not, our guys will still be telling tales to their grandkids about the one they DID win.

Time is both a humbler of the emotions and an opportunity to sit back and revel in old glories [inflated or not]. I worry a LOT more about football being seriously changed by violent spinal injuries [and the rules-makers response to them] than minor issues like whether two, four, or eight teams should play for a mythical championship. But, let's win a few anyway. More fun that way, and less IE posters will jump off ledges during the season.

I agree with alot of what you have posted, most notably the idea of having all of these bowl games. I love football and I always seek out a good game to watch, so I am not opposed at all to all of these bowl games because you are right, it affords many players the opportunity to continue playing for one more game and it really kind of extends the football season. I remember when all the bowl games, well most of them were played on Jan 1st and I remember going back and forth between channels just to catch glimpses of some games. I like how the BCS games are spread out and I don't mind the myriad of lesser tiered bowls because it ensures that I can watch some college football for about two more weeks. (purely selfish on my part) My only complaint really is that with the way BCS is set up, you see some unbalanced matchups and you get teams in there that really shouldn't be in there (an 11-1 vs 7-4 for example). Also.., Look at this year..., we have Auburn, Oregon and TCU that are all undefeated....., what happens if they remain that way? Who plays for the NC? Of course it will be the number 1 and 2 teams in the rankings..., but if we had some sort of playoff with the undefeateds, we could at least crown a team that has stood above the rest. I don't have the easy answer, but the automatic bid stuff needs to go in my opinion and some sort of playoff needs to take place. Maybe the top 8 teams play in the playoffs? I don't know.
