Kelly is, generally trying to put one guy into each position. He rightly decided that previous years were shallow in DBs and decided to go one over there; sacrificing the NT position [my guess is that he felt that the "crop" of NTs this year was slim and we were on the outside of those few that there were. Look for him to try to hit that maybe twice next year.]
If you look across our Defense, Kelly lacks one linebacker and one DE. Lynch will be like delayed Christmas, and Ishaq [who I am a lot more nervous about] would be the second present. This is why he was also hoping for Scarlett and surprisingly at MLB---Counsell and Rabasa would be slotted for OLB with Grace the lone middle.
On Offense, he has one player for each spot [assuming both Carrico and Springmann are O] except for a slot receiver and/or RB [with McDaniel providing the versatility]. This is why he's personally visiting Carlisle.
He has a kicker and is pursuing a long snapper. Unless you have huge numbers deficits somewhere, this is the best strategy for recruiting: get someone for each spot. Kelly, as usual, has both brains and salesmanship.
