You can do TikTok and find like minded friends. We need more of our older generation to be like old man Mike and not these ones living perpetually on Facebook and Twitter

I just noticed you left off TikTok, that's all.I don't think you understood the point of my post, which is not surprising
Have you been on TikTok? It's been noticeably pro Trump since he "saved" it. Anyone using any of the influencers on those platforms as their sources for news is an idiot regardless of party affiliationI just noticed you left off TikTok, that's all.![]()
I would argue you can better info on Twitter, not FB/TikTok, than any other platform. Right now I am trending the India-Pakistan tension and European blackouts with better info there than I can anywhere else. I'm not advocating for just following Harry Sisson or Catturd. That kinda crap is pointless.Have you been on TikTok? It's been noticeably pro Trump since he "saved" it. I can agree with that depending on if you're following actual news sources. But he never posts legitimate sources. It's from known Russian propagandists over half the timeI would argue you can better info on Twitter, not FB/TikTok, than any other platform. On the "deported" 2 year old- Rubio makes a point similar to mine in that you guys are going to bitch no matter what Trump's folks do and the media is going to twist it.
They really aren't though....the adjustments for these test numbers are always terrible. It's why you never see them used.it's still a very good thing that our historically worst states are improving
Mississippi, mentioned in the original tweet, is absolutely a success story when it comes to education and has been for the past decade:They really aren't though....the adjustments for these test numbers are always terrible. It's why you never see them used.
Mississippi has seen significant improvements in test scores, particularly for 4th graders in reading and math. The state has made notable gains in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), with Mississippi 4th graders achieving the highest score increases in reading and math since 2013. In fact, Mississippi now ranks among the top states for 4th grade reading and math scores.
- Highest-ever rate of students scoring proficient or advanced in all four tests: 4th and 8th grade reading and math
- No. 1 in the nation for achieving highest score increases in 4th grade reading and math since 2013
- No. 9 in the nation for overall 4th grade reading scores and No. 16 for 4th grade math scores (up from No. 49 and No. 50 in 2013)
- African American 4th graders rank No. 3 among their peers nationally for reading and math scores
- Hispanic 4th graders rank No. 1 among their peers nationally for reading scores and No. 2 for math scores
- Economically disadvantaged 4th graders rank No. 1 in the nation among their peers in reading and No. 2 for math.
- 8th grade scores hold steady since 2013 as scores nationally dropped
- Mississippi is one of only 13 states with gains in 4th grade math, which is the only subject and grade nationally that showed statistically significant improvements since 2022
I'm not throwing shade at it? The adjustments themselves have... shall we say....less than altruistic assumptions. Mississippi is also still below national averages and both NY and California in the raw data. It's great that Mississippi and Louisiana are improving but the original tweet was misleading and that's what I was clarifying with posting the responses. And I don't understand how anyone constitutes their success with underperforming minority groups is something to throw shade at.
The demographic adjustments have been done for a long time under both administrations and are simply statistical for comparing apples-to-apples. I don't even know what you're alluding to. Are you mad that Mississippi is better at educating minorities than blue states? Were you mad about this during the Obama and Biden administrations as well when Mississippi started showing major improvements?I'm not throwing shade at it? The adjustments themselves have... shall we say....less than altruistic assumptions. Mississippi is also still below national averages and both NY and California in the raw data. It's great that Mississippi and Louisiana are improving but the original tweet was misleading and that's what I was clarifying with posting the responses.
Obviously.I don't even know what you're alluding to
..and they've always been shit. The demographic adjustments have been done for a long time under both administrations
I've made that pretty clear.do you have a problem with
Who said that was "bad"? *looks around room*Mississippi has improved greatly in both raw numbers and demographic adjusted stats
Have you noticed that every time someone disagrees with you or posts something you don't like, but can't refute with facts or logic, your fallback response is to call them a moron, a dipshit, an idiot, and etc. I'm not insulted. I'm happy to know that you realize you're on the wrong side of yet another issue and this is all you have left, so thanks!
Oh, and btw, Biden absolutely positively 100% encouraged and incentivized the invasion of millions of illegal immigrants during his administration.
Honestly, part of me calling your intellect into question is that I think it’s kind of funny seeing you post these ridiculous Yosemite Sam inspired rants in response. I guess that makes me a bit petty and I’ll have find a way to live with that. You didn't want the invasion stopped nor the problem addressed when it was being created, so STFU now about it finally getting solved. Nobody cares what you think about it. In fact, the more you dislike the way it's now being solved, the better the rest of us like it. Your hypocrisy and "America last" attitude have a cost.
No one is "mad" about anything. Were you mad about this
What changes have they made? What part of this, and be specific, do you have a problem with: The Nation's Report Card | NAEP
And when did you start having a problem with it? Mississippi has improved greatly in both raw numbers and demographic adjusted stats. This should be commended and more states should follow their lead on the specific changes they made to their educational systems.
I saw one big change was in how they're teaching reading. They went back to phonetic teaching of words vs whole word teaching. I'm not sure exactly what whole word teaching is exactly. What changes have they made?
Quite a few. What changes have they made?
Whole word teaching is basically memorization. It's a shit way to teach reading. Phonics should have always been the standard. Going away from phonics has been a terrible mistake. They went back to phonetic teaching of words vs whole word teaching.
That's what I assumed. I definitely learned phonetically. Not sure why we would have ever moved away from that standard. Makes it way harder to learn new words if you're unable to sound them out properlyWhole word teaching is basically memorization. It's a shit way to teach reading.
