People on social media cancelling Lou again because he spoke at a Trump rally, "fans" and self proclaimed alumni alike (If those claims are believable). I honestly think it's ridiculous people would let something as silly as politics shape their personal opinion on an individual especially non-politicians. People are asking what his former players think of him now...obviously these people don't know Lou and don't know most of his players. They've known where he stands, they know his character and his Catholic background. His players often stick by him and support him in charity work and other events.
Not going to lie, politicians are often slimy as it comes with the territory. I don't agree with much of liberal Hollywood, but I'm not going to quit watching someone's movies necessarily because I disagree with them. I'm not petty, I can separate the person from the politics because in a two party system there is never a right and a wrong side. There may be a right and a wrong position, but neither party is wrong in general. Both sides want us divided.
It's just silly seeing all these messages from people saying "My dad is rolling in his grave over this." Did your dad even know Lou? I highly doubt it. Lou is a man of character that has put three things first in his life: God, family, and Notre Dame. He took time out of his day and bowl prep before the '91 bowl game in Hawaii to meet my grandfather and family. He talked at length about those three things. That's the kind of man he is. He left a real impression on my grandfather, the kind you rarely get from a Tweet or even a public speaking event. People are never the sum of a few actions, and when it comes to politics I think people need to learn how to separate their feelings from political perceptions again...especially when it comes to non-politicians.
