i played at a place one time that had hamms stuff all over ala applebees(but didnt serve it)...been searching for it ever since..ive heard you can still get it in the great lakes area...its supposedly the rage with college kids for its cheap price..around 6$ a 12 pack...

There is a cool place down here near Newport Beach called Goat Hill Tavern. They have something like 97 beers ON TAP! I know they have PBR and I am pretty sure they might still have Hamms. I just can't bring myself to order something like that on tap when there are so many other great choices.

Oh my Lord!! I just spit coffee all over my keyboard! My boss is going to dock my pay again!

In college, we used to drink Lucky Lager. The beer was kind of crappy, but it came in these cool 10oz short squatty bottles and the bottle caps had riddles on the under side. They were easy at first, but after about 14 or 15, they were real head scratchers.

Also, does anyone remember Party Balls? Coors Light had the 5 gallon party ball which was a plastic orb with a built in tap. The cool thing was that after you killed all the beer, you had a great plastic ball for drunk soccer! They don't make them anymore, but if you were going for quantity over quality, nothing beat a party ball.

Holy shit! Did you just say Lucky Lager?!? We used to drink those too in college! $3.99 for a 12 pack, what the hell else were we going to drink? Damn that brings back a lot of memories. My buddies and I used to have a 'band' (in other words, we played crappy music in a garage), and I swear our group's name was "Ruben and the Lucky Lagers". (Ruben played guitar and we used his garage). And we always said our first album would be called "Solve the Riddle". Remember, on the inside of the caps they had those picture riddles that are beyond puzzling when you're hammered. I wish I could say I'm lying but I ain't. We still talk about it today. Ahhh, the glory days.

GoIrish, I can't even imagine what Lucky Lager would taste like to me now (the words 'oil' and 'piss' come to mind), but thanks for bringing back the memories!...

I like vodka and cranberry. Grey Goose is a rip-off though. I think even Smirnoff is smoother. I prefer Ciroc or Ketel to GG.

1. Black and Tans (Guinness and Bass)
2. Heineken
3. Stella Artois

4. The beer that's in my hand right now, whick happens to be a BL.

I drank mounds of the Beast, Busch, and Natty (Natural Light) back in the college days, but I drank Bud Heavy at first for most of my younger years.

Bro its amazing....750 for a sixer...has the effects of a 12er with taste second to none! Get it if you can...amazing. I would feel guilty if not to mention Red Stripe and Blue Moon...How's the Celebrator Double ACamp? Sounds interesting..

We have a thread like this somewhere but might as well update it...

1.) Belhaven Scottish

2.) Sierra Nevada Pale

3.) Celebrator Double Boch

Best MircoBrew-- LOVE these two... Shipyard's PumpkinHead and PH Woods DesertWheat... the second you have to come out to Cali for, the first is found everywhere during the fall

The IPA from Sierra Nevada that the thread creator mentioned has me quite excited, can't wait to try it...

It's a Czech beer and it is a straight choclate malt of a beer... only place you'll find it here in the states is a Bev Mo. but I have found most Bev Mo.s carry it... very good stuff

but nothing beats a good Belhaven

I went to Loyola Marymount my freshman year before transferring out to the midwest, but we used to get Lucky Lager by the hand-truck load every weekend. Those riddles were hilarious after you were a case in. I would pay money to see Ruben and the Lucky Lagers perform!

I can't imagine what it would taste like either. I saw it at Pavilion's one time and I almost bought it for sentimental reasons, but reconsidered. I don't want to tarnish the (hazy) memories!

How about Milwaukee's Best Ice (AKA Beast)? That beer is pretty craptastic. BTW, Hamm's is terrible.

Hamm's is pretty bad. Meister Brau or Schaffer's - even worse.

I know I am going to piss off all Chicago people, but Old Style makes me gag. Smells like you wrung out an old bar rag into a glass!

I have never had it on tap. Might have to try that at Goat Hill Tavern. It just always smelled so funky to me. It has a different aroma to it than other beers in my opinion.

I haven't seen any malt liquors listed. We kind of jacked this thread to a cheap, shit beer thread a little. But, anyone like Mickey's? Nothing worse than the next day "Mickey's shits".

Shit dude we're on the EXACT same wavelength with this beer thread! My buddies and I were the kings of shitty beer in h.s. and college, but I never stooped to Miller High Life. I agree, it just smells different, and it tastes like piss. Maybe it's a worse product out here in SoCal, but seriously, NO ONE other than extreme trailor trash drinks that stuff. Then again, in high school we used to drink MGD and think we were the bomb, and now i can't even get near that crap.

Like you GoIrish, we used to drink Mickey's. That stuff was NAAAAASSSSTTY. I'd probably puke if I had to drink it again. But it was the preffered drink of the people we used to party with, and if it's free and you're broke....you're drinking it. Yuck....the memories of Pabst Blue Ribbon, Natural Ice, Lucky Lagers and Mickey's. Then again, those were the days...

Was looking at some old threads and thought I'd bring this one back with so many new posters...lol. My updated top 3. One for each different setting.

Newcastle-- to kick back and relax and just have a few (not intending to get blitzed and have to work the next day)

Bud light-- for tailgaiting and to get totally hammered on.

Corona-- On a hot, humid day.

Newcastle on tap was what got me into beer beyond your basic bud/ Coors stuff... I remember thinking it was the best tasting thing ever... Rarely have it now tho...

Never understood Corona's popularity, I mean, it's not undrinkable like say, Tecate, but Dos Equis green with a lime so totally destroys Corona to me... No contest as far as best summer day Mexican beer goes... Dos Equis green all the way...

I'll take Miller, Beast and Pabst for my 'let's just get drunk' brews...

I only have 1 favorite and its more about the way I drink my beer, Michelada style! Its good during hot days and cold days, also it's great for hangovers! I have been trying to master my recipe for about 8 years now. I have made it with various types of beers but I think any light colored Mexican beer is the best.
