Was at Cici's Pizza in Mishawaka (3-4 miles from ND) today. Don't judge, it was my kid's B-day and he picked it. Anyway, thought he looked familiar, he came in with a bunch of kids (under 10 years old, must've been recruiting young) and was wearing all ND football and Adidas gear. We were leaving and he was outside on the phone and talking on the cell. "You're either ND or you're not.", was all I heard for certain. I hung out nearby for a minute to see if I could hear anything more, but no luck. After checking the coaching staff pics, my wife and I agreed that it was 100% him. I just hope he didn't get the Fece's Pizza diarrhea that has plagued me since then.

He was probably just giving his credit card company an answer to one of his secret questions. :)

Here's my fave Tony Alford moment.....

We were at Barnabys Pizza last month for dinner when we were in town for the ND youth football camp. I was walking up to the bar to get sodas and there he was grabbing a few pitchers of soda for his party. I said, "Hey Coach Alford, how are you?" He asked my name, and I let him know that we were there for youth camp. He asked my sons name, and I pointed him out across the restaurant.

Coach took the time to walk over, say hello to our family and shake my son's hand. Asked my son what he had learned at camp so far.

Sent him a quick tweet the next day thanking him for taking time out of his dinner to say hello. Not only did he reply, but remembered my son's name as well. For the hundreds of kids he was dealing with that week, the fact that he was that dialed in to that brief interaction he had with our family truly resonated with me. He will be my favorite ND coach for years to come.

Bout damn time we are recruiting the under ten year olds. Gotta keep up with Bama, LSU, and USC!

So who do you think that was in reference to? I think Luatua or Holmes. Both seem to be rumored as ND, with commitments imminent, but neither has occurred. Any other thoughts?

I think it could be in reference to so many things, recruiting or otherwise, that it is not productive to even speculate or to assume it is recruiting related.
