I think robby will be a very solid reciever in a couple of years but what in the hell is going on with Shaq (guessing, still sick? disipline? noidea) and Dieon walker, (have been waiting for bit for him but idn) that robby toma is getting reps in a game and niether of these guys are. this is really making me confused. I mean a guy that was pretty much a lock to redshirt passes up shaq and walker for pt. i would just like some answers. maybe walker isn't that good, slow progess idn. And no idea about shaq there is only so many things i can think of for toma playing over this guys (no disrespect to toma)

Seems kind of obvious we were running out of receivers, even Hayden and sidekick noticed that.

Floyd's still out with the clavicle. Parris made the field early and didn't return. Kamara had been used most of the year as a blocker according to Weis because of lingering knee problem he injured preseason. Today he almost matched his season's total. Goodman seemed to get more time at WR today than all season as well. Don't know if Evan and Walker are injured, ill, or are in the academic doghouse. Charlie doesn't talk much about injuries in general and isn't going to comment about an individual's academic progress. If it was an away game he might, "Just say so and so didn't make the bus."

I'd expect the reporters to ask him about Toma and the receiving corps at the Sunday Press Conference.

Nic for other guys to get some PT but Goodman was running out of bounds and Toma was hearing footsteps. I only hope there is a good reason for them sitting. They have play making ability and it should be used. Still don't see Rudolph getting enough throws except at the wrong time.

Although Toma looked good, I have no idea why he was even on the field yesterday. Why waste a year of eligibility?

Where's my homeboy Shaq? He needs to be on the field.

Goodman looked pretty good. But he did drop a pass. And he needs to learn to cut upfield.

Duval Kamara. Keep him in. Just keep throwing him the ball and get his confidence back up.

Deion Walker? Where the hell has he been? Is he really that bad? Is he in the doghouse?

Saw 11 on the sideline... always about 3 -4 deep off the field. ???????????

My wife flew in from Atlanta Saturday morn - told guy next to her she was going to the game... it was Zeke Motta's dad. Zekes a coach's son. Everytime the team came to sideline for a huddle (timeout) Zeke was in the mix off the sidleline. (She spent the afternoon pointing out # 17 to me... so I couldn't help but notice... I also was made aware of every special teams appearance... his tackle... his long sleeves... pulled up black socks...) she also knows he's a nice boy...

I dont think it is really surprising to see Toma. Keep reading good things about him from practice, Shaq hasnt really done much. Walker hasnt been on the field in three years. If the other guys arent getting it done, why not give him a chance?

Anyone know if Parris re-injured the knee/made it worse, or if he just should not have been playing and he or the coaches realized it when he took a hit?

Walker lined up for 2 or 3 plays in USC game - I think he had 1 incomplete.

You guys should really start watching the Sunday morning Weis pressers, at und.com.

1. Evans in NOT in the doghouse.

2. Toma played in front of Walker and Evans because he was playing the slot, and those two guys are outside receivers. Weis mentioned that Toma does the things that ND wants a slot receiver to do, better than Walker and Evans.

Todd Burledge : Blue Gold . com

• A rumor has been gaining steam that freshman receiver Shaquelle Evans didn’t see any action the last two games because of some sort of disciplinary action. Weis stated clearly that is not the case. Evans was ill and missed most of practice before the USC game and with seven catches and 60 yards, Kamara played too well Saturday for Evans to find any reps.

“Duval actually had one of his better games so I wasn’t looking to get Duval off the field,” Weis said.

I was wondering on the Toma thing myself, but when I thought about things more it made sense. First, he IS a slot receiver. Second, we were going to throw alot of underneath patterns where you want an elusive runner after catch. Finally, Deion and Shaq are more virtical straight line guys.

Toma runs crisp routes and has good hands. I can't wait to see how he develops over the years and see how Weis will use him. He is the first true slot WR at ND during the Weis era and with a lot of vertical threats on the team, should put up good numbers catching short passes underneath the coverage.

I found it hilarious when he was lined up next to Rudolph.

Thank you! Just my warped sense of humor.

Sometimes less is more.

Geez. Another classic. We talking bout an undersized overachieving athlete, and you say

"less is more." You have a 200 I.Q.?

I don't.

If you think you have a "warped" sense of humor, where does that put me?

I am often suprised at the names of ND athletes. Names like Stonebreaker and Getherall and Crist. In spanish "Toma!" is often used as "Take that you mofo!"

(Shut up johnnykilz. Cavemen won. Leave me alone.)

The Getherall family are friends. They had me as a house guest back in '98 for the USC game. Joey's dad sent me and email yesterday of pictures of Joey's wedding.

Don't know Toma but Joey's dad and I have discussed him and how he should be used more effectively by Weis than Joey was by Davie and Colletto.

"Toma" was a TV show in the 70's about a tough, police detective. in the 70's Joey's dad actually was a tough, police detective.

Somebody should tell Roseannes husband that after he catches the ball, look first before you duck out of bounds, perhaps the defender has fallen and given you a 50 yard YAC gift. God damn did that piss me off Saturday, I hope Weis is all over that.

Evans & Walker

Evans & Walker

Great question at to the whereabouts of these two! Hopefully, the press conference reporters will ask Charlie and he will give a straight answer. If they can continue their high school performance at the college levell, both are destined for stardom at ND.
