are amazing.
I support a charity called the Heifer Fund (NO it is not about fat women). You can buy livestock for desperately poor families around the world. I tell the kids about it the first day of school. Then I put out a big can with a lid on it and tell them that if they want, they can put their change or ice cream money in whenever they want. We opened up the can yesterday to count out the money to see what gift our class could buy. Usually its a flock of chicks for $20 or something similar.
This year we have enough to buy a goat and a flock of chicks. They had donated $145. That's a lot of ice cream money! It was also a LOT of change.
Charitable Gift Giving | Donate a Goat to Heifer International
This is a great charity for kids because its a doable amount to save ($20 for the chicks or ducks) and its a very concrete idea for them to see how they are helping.
Makes you feel good about the future
