However, those OU threads are horrifying, I'm sorry. I really tried to look for good fball discussion and found none. ND is a team where you should KNOW who Manti Teo is, you should KNOW who our RBs are, and you should at least be discussing how you are going to stop Tuitt, Nix, KLM (or at least mention our D line). All I saw on those threads was Bell this Bell that, no one in country can stop him, etc.

I think what opposing fans don' tunderstand is that Notre Dame's front 7 has three 1st round NFL draft picks -Nix/Tuitt/Teo- and Lewis- Moore/Shembo/Spond/Fox are very good players. They are used to seeing ND's front 7 get manhandled against better teams. That's not going to happen this year.

E.g.- I'm well aware of Manti, but I have zero idea about your offensive identity. I don't view that as a lack of respect for ND - I am just watching different games on Saturdays. Plus, I like to drink a LOT, so when I'm at our tailgate in Norman, I'm usually nose-in-a-mug as opposed to surveying the college landscape. And that's OK, because you guys appear to be woefully ignorant of the lethal nature of our WR corps this year. And that's OK- why on earth would you be aware of our WR corps other than Kenny Stills?

And as to Bell - well, he's a ton of fun to watch, but he also arguably lost us the game against KSU this year. So, week-to-week, the messageboard temperature is going to change drastically.

And I won't apologize for other OU posters on their own boards. Messageboards are what they are. Although you guys get it a little harder from OU fans for the following reasons:
1. You bookend The Streak. That makes us unhappy.
2. People that made the trip in 1999 (myself included) were not treated well. We weren't treated poorly, but we were not treated kindly.
3. You guys own us in the series record. This makes us unhappy.
4. Be honest - you guys tend to act a little entitled.
5. We've been pretty dang good since 2000. You guys have been good again for like 5 minutes. We tend to view this REALLY unfairly, as though Oklahoma and Alabama are the only programs allowed to be good, and the rest of y'all are "new money". Like I said, it's not a rational viewpoint, but it's there.
6. You enjoy the most ridiculously unfair rules exceptions in the history of modern sports, the absurdity of which is only exceeded by the fact that everyone in the country has accepted it as normal. But that's for another thread.

That's fair. I don't think its a lack of respect by OU fans. I wasn't expecting respect. I was hoping for a little productive football discussion about the biggest game on your schedule thus far, against the #5 team in the nation, and at least have some posters providing some knowledge on our best players. Closest that I saw were two threads specifically designed to bash our head coach who has a history of winning programs and a history of integrity.

I guess I'm spoiled with the amount of respect and knowledge that is on IE. I can go to any gameday thread that we have and if I don't have much info about the other team, I get the best information there. I like watching a game knowing who to look out for, and seeing ND have a plan in place for it.

Teams fanbases routinely come into ND Stadium talking crap, because they know its not the SEC or Ohio State where they'll get jacked in the jaw if they start talking crap. I have seen numerous opposing fans who should have gotten their *** kicked at ND stadium, but didn't, because while they unrelentingly talked crap all game long about ND, the fans took it. Furthermore, we'll see how "kindly" your fanbase treats us this weekend.

It takes a lot of guts to come on this board and make that kind of accusation about ND's fans in an area where ND takes a lot of pride in, however misguided I think it is some times.

Calm thyself. It's totally OK that your fans were less-than-nice. It's not an accusation - it's God's truth. And it's OK! It's not like I got spat on or anything.

Depending on where you are Saturday, I suspect you'll get pretty great treatment. If you're at our tailgate, you'll get free food, free booze, and good conversation.

That being said - we have some tshirt/redneck fans. So look out for those buttholes. Our fans are generally pretty nice, though. (As long as you aren't a Longwhorn or Okie State sheeplover.)
