I want the ISD one, didn't know that was free, man.

I can't stand Driskell. Extremely condescending as you've mentioned, but also he has been way off base on a number of evaluations he has done. I think one year on ISD he gave every single ND recruit a 4 star rating (he also had Taylor Decker as the lowest rated recruit and the only 3 star when he was still in the class). On message boards, he also takes major offense whenever a view of his is challenged. I think ISD's replacement for him, Reagan, is a major improvement.
I know some of you guys are Dan Carlin/Hardcore History fans, he tweeted earlier that a new show should be out tonight. Been a while (May, I think) since his last one. Excited to see what the topic is.
Hopefully it's the start of a new series and not a one-off.
How do you guys listen to them? Knock it out in one sitting or enjoy it during the commute for a week plus?
Is anyone listening to the Up and Vanished podcast? It's another unsolved murder mystery case that's been cold for about 10 years. I like it so far, but I do have one major reservation about it, so if anyone else is listening, let me know.
I have listened to every episode. Enjoying it so far.
I enjoy it too.
Here's my thought on the most recent episode: SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T CAUGHT UP!!!...
This George Harrison character, how did he know about Payne Lindsey and the exact title of the podcast, "Up and Vanished," before Payne even began doing the show? My bullshit meter is sounding off, suggesting that maybe Payne planted this guy on FB in order to promote the show. But then again, towards the end of the episode, whoever this guy is seems to be a match with whomever the PI spoke to early on (same typing style). Something shady about this new fella.
What are your thoughts on "George" knowing the exact title of the podcast and even Payne's name before he actually began doing the show?
My impression is that this guy is obsessed with the case and has been reaching out to multiple parties about it. It's possible that someone Lindsey previously spoke to subsequently mentioned the podcast to "George" as part of a separate conversation.
I would be really, really disappointed if we come to find out that he was a plant by Lindsey. One of the reasons I like the podcast so much is Lindsey's likability and straight-shooter attitude.

For those of you that have been listening to "Up and Vanished" -- the GBI made an arrest in Tara's murder.

Anyone listening to the S-team? It was made by "This American Life". It has pretty great reviews, I'm going to download it today.
S-Town? It was sad but not riveting or addicting. Mentally prepare yourself and you may still find some enjoyment.
Correct, edited. I've only read random comments online and people seem to like it even better than Serial, but maybe it depends on the person.
Sounds like it's another true story, which I prefer.

I don't understand how anyone could like that story more than Serial. Hopefully you report back after finishing it.
I hated S-Town. Thought it glorified an individual who, in almost all aspects, is a terrible person.
