I cannot say enough positive things about Hardcore History by Dan Carlin. His serieseses on World War II's Eastern Front ("Ghosts of the Ostfront"), Mongols ("Wrath of the Kahns"), World War I ("Blueprint for Armageddon") are all amazing. Really it's all great but those are the best in my opinion.

r/askhistorians' biggest criticism was that he relies too much on primary sources, whereas many things in history are best viewed a generation later. Regardless, do yourselves a favor and download his stuff.

His political podcast, Common Sense, is also fantastic. He's a unique view, as a staunch liberal with no faith in government.

Completely agree. His series on Rome (death throes of the Republic) was also great. Some of his single episodes are also fantastic. Made my wife spend a couple of nights in Münster when we were in Germany because of one of his podcasts. Dan is the man.

I'm no podcast expert - does anyone know how I can find Coach D's (BGI) free weekly podcast on an Android? I use 'podcast addict' to find podcasts.

I'm no podcast expert. Hell I honestly don't know what one is. What is it? Do I need to stream it? Will it kill my data if I'm not on wifi?

You'll download it, so if you download on wifi, it won't count against your data. If you download it without being on wifi, it will eat up a lot of data in a short time.

Still not sure how to find Coach D's podcasts in case anyone can help out.

I found it, thanks guys. Looks like there's not a 'clemson week' one out yet.

BGI's free podcast for Clemson preview comes out today. I've read a lot of Coach D's stuff but never listened so I'm looking forward to that.

Anyone know what time that usually gets put out?

Sometime around noon i think? The guy is the definition of smarmy but he knows his stuff. His favourite line is "when i was a coach.."

Thanks.

You can tell he really misses coaching and would probably rather be doing that. I just like that he's objective on players, he pumps no sunshine at all. Not to beat the Joe-has-to-go drum (because I know our defense is dependent on him -which is another issue -), but he's really hard on Schmidt, which I think most non-ND fans would agree with. He calls him average at best. Also really hard on some of the things that it's hard to see on TV, like the interior DL missing their gap assignments. Things like that I like to hear because it's sometimes difficult to criticize players on here :).

I think the thing about Coach D is that he is a coach. His views are constructed by what he sees on film. He's aware Joe's rise to being a captain at ND is a great romantic story but if Joe is not producing on the field then he is gonna call him out on it.

I can't stand Driskell. Extremely condescending as you've mentioned, but also he has been way off base on a number of evaluations he has done. I think one year on ISD he gave every single ND recruit a 4 star rating (he also had Taylor Decker as the lowest rated recruit and the only 3 star when he was still in the class). On message boards, he also takes major offense whenever a view of his is challenged. I think ISD's replacement for him, Reagan, is a major improvement.

The problem going with Reagan on PH is yo are replacing a rattlesnake with a bunny rabbit. Bill is never going to see anything remotely controversial and is kinda just a Yes man for Mike Frank. I feel like Driskell will butt in on Lou whenever Lou messes up a player's name. It's not really that important and kinda grinds my gears a bit. To be honest my favourite ND podcasts in order are:
1. Irish Illustrated
2. One Foot Down
3. BGI
4. Power Hour

I don't mind Driskell. He does know what he is talking about. I cant stand the boys Irish Illustrated. Pete Sampson and Tim Prister are very hard to listen to. Plus anyone that keeps Jake Brown employed has zero credibility.

Yes. If you have an iphone, you're a lady, and can just download through your itunes (I think??), which is already installed.

If you're a man and have an android, download 'podcast addict' from the 'play store'. You can download other apps to play podcasts, but that's the free one I chose.

After that, search in podcast addict for 'BGI' and subscribe. After you subscribe to BIG, you can click in and there should be a list of podcasts that are dated. Download the new one when it comes out (unless you want to listen to old previews for some reason).

It'll cost you data to download unless you're on wifi... But once you're download is done, you can go within your app to 'downloaded episodes' and when you listen to it in there, it doesn't use any data.

I edited my post, but let me know if you can't find it. I also have a note 4.
I have ATT with rollover data, wifi at work, and at home. So I should be good with data. 15 gigs a month between 4 lines and we usually never break 7. Unless one of the kids goes rogue.

Downloaded the app. Found BGI. Any other good ND suggestions? Will these be audio or video?

Irish Sports Daily Power Hour. I can't recommend it enough. Irish Illustrated is good too. One Foot Down.
