The Optimal Notre Dame Scheduling Model

Hmmm ... I don't know how I should feel about this. Texas Tech seems to be marshalling a lot of money for recruiting. That should translate into a lot of winning especially in the Big 12. I think that TTech would be a good opponent to schedule for us if the SEC zero's out and the B1G sort of does. Beating the Big 12 champs sounds like a good thing on a resume; also beating the ACC champs does too. I therefore welcome this guy's "offer".
So we offer them a 2 for one. The one to be played in Dallas.

It is fixing to be a very boring regular season across the board very soon. Just conference games, easy games then eventually some good games at the end of the season.

Idk if he is smart enough to think ahead and say stuff as a PR move.

I think he and Campbell just flap their gums a lot. Sometimes they stumble into a useful sentence.

Texas Tech isn't the bad guy here. They are calling Texas out for the same thing we are -- talking out of both sides of their mouth when it comes to strength of schedule. "Oh they don't play anyone, so they aren't actually as good as their record" followed by "We can't afford to play them because we could lose."

If ND or TT or whoever are so bad that they could beat them with your 2s and 3s, as that drunken fuckwit has claimed, what are they so worried about? It shouldn't matter who they play the next week, the 1s would play a couple of quarters to get the rust off and then rest the second half.

The fact of the matter is that this is a considered effort from the SEC to play buy games and conference games and that's it. As long as the SEC doesn't schedule any decent OOC opponent, then they can continue with the lie that they are the pre-eminent college football conference, despite the past several years of results in the CFP.

Hopefully Pete B realizes at this point that Sankey is not actually his friend, and that he is just as responsible for what happened during the selection process as Jim Phillips.

The B10 and BIG 12 and ACC could use this to their advantage. Since they are in favor of the 24 team playoff, they should work to scheduled as many premier cross-conference games as they can to further weaken the SEC image. They'll be adding data points to help evaluate strength while the SEC isolates.

It would be an incredible move if they coordinated it so they could announce marquee matchups over the course of a couple weeks, just prior to the season ramping up.

Texas Tech's nonconference schedule this year is Abilene Christian, Oregon State and Sam Houston. Last year they played Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Kent State and Oregon State. They haven't played a P4 nonconference opponent since 2023. (It was Texas, for the record. TTU lost 57-7.)
They're doing the exact same thing they're on Texas about. Scheduling no games that they don't have to that they might lose.

Not to defend Texas here, but I think what Sark/Texas are signaling is their conference schedule is so difficult they don't want to schedule tough out of conference games. Whether you agree with that or not, Texas Tech can't say the same thing with a straight face.

Can’t cancel your P4 opponent if you never schedule them in the first place! 4D chess from Big Mac!

Unlike BYU, Texas tech is such a bleh matchup. Idc if they are now good, it’s gonna be 5+ years before I could get excited about playing them.

Playing Texas Tech reminds me of playing the recent ranked UNC teams - with a better DL. It would be entirely underwhelming after 1Q. And it’s unlikely they go 4/4 every year on DL transfers.

That’s the thing with our ACC schedule, at this point everyone has already watched us beat these ranked Louisville/UNC/NC State etc teams 9/10 teams. So the schedule is easy because we’ve watched it happen enough. The haters will tell you playing Tennessee, Missouri, Iowa or Washington would be harder. BYU and USC. And they would just be the exact same thing

Dipshits clown ND for getting smoked in the post-season, but gloss over who they played.

ND roasts the mids. Always have.
