I believe Cadillac will be making their power units unless something changed.

That’s the word. They’re getting “Cadillac” engines but they aren’t Blackwings, they’ll be based off the LT6 5.5’s from the z06.

For now, Cadillac will be badging the Andretti power unit--likely in a deal with Renault. There have been talks that GM is interested in developing their own power unit from 2027 onward. A lot depends upon if/when Andretti gets his bid accepted. I think GM developing the entire power unit is largely talk now to help his bid but long-term it's probably a good idea.

Ford is badging the new 2026 Red Bull Powertrains power unit, but also working with Red Bull to develop and maintain the battery side of things.

Rain may play a part for the start on Sunday. Unbelievable speeds as all but one driver qualified with an average speed of 230mph or higher. The front row averaged 234mph. If you haven't been, put it on the bucket list.

I’ve been to carb day 7 or 8 times, been hammered beyond belief every time. Always a good time. Especially night time in the Coke lot lol

Lived most of my life on the west side of Indy about 15 mins west of the track and have actually never been to race day. Carb day a lot of times but never once for the race believe it or not

F1 Monaco in the morning, Indy 500 midday, and 600 NASCAR at night...what a Sunday for race fans. Seen 15+ 500's, definitely a spectacle worth the trip. Worked with CART Technical Committee for 8 years back in the 90's, after the series split into 2 series (CART and IRL). After Indy, my favorite track/event is Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI.

I don't remember how many times I've been to practice days or qualifications back in my youth. The original Snake Pit was where you wanted to be back then. I've only been to two the race 2 or 3 times, but it was worth the experience. The start of the race through the first five laps or so is amazing.

Here in Indy they don’t televise the race. So, on race day our neighborhood turns into a block party with everyone cranking it up on their radios. And I’ll be at least 6 beers deep before eating breakfast. 😉

Listening to the race is the preferred method anyways, sounds so much more exciting over the radio as I’m grilling brats and hammering beers. Pure America

The first lap is truly exhilarating.

I need to figure out the best way to listen to the race down in Tennessee. Travel to the in-laws’ lake house for Memorial Day weekend each year now but I’m converting the family into race fans. Starts with purchasing the drivers in my mom’s race pool — gives ya someone to root for.

So if anyone knows the best station to tune into west of Knoxville please let me know.

I wonder why Penske thinks it's best to enforce the central Indiana blackout when weather is the reason he'll fall 4000ish spectators short of the 330,000 total needed to lift it? He's in contract negotiations with NBC & Fox for future rights. About 10 years ago, they didn't have a blackout and more people in the city of Indianapolis watched the race than were in attendance. Adding all of the blackout area would be a huge boost to his numbers.

We spent some time outside the track today. It’s the one time a year I can get my lady out to a party.

Should have either started earlier or just postpone it to tomorrow morning. Talking about just getting 101 in and trying to sneak it in between storms.

Also posted in Zackery's thread:

I challenge Uncle Pete to get an ND commitment announcement on the Indy 500 broadcast pre-race coverage.

Having Mark Zackery commit this morning promoting NBC's college football coverage woulda been good business.

This isn’t an all day rain coming through right now. There should be some dry hours this afternoon where they could get a decent amount of laps in.

This has been a pretty insane start to the race.

The track conditions are like people in Tennessee driving in a light snow.

Larson shuffled back to 16th on a couple of restarts. Has clawed back to 8th.

Mclaughlin, Ferrucci, Rossi and Herta look strong.
