Wall's commitment will trigger everyone one the fence about ND to commit in a hurry. The way Charlie and the Gang are bringing the kids in, that is the only way they will have a scholarship reserved.

According to the SOUTH BEND Tribune Aaron Brown will be the 20th commit later this week.

Who is on the bubble??? Can anyone list the top 5-8 guys still to commit that have ND on the shortlist?? This is great!!! Was there any influence from current verbals? I Hear Aldridge is a key marketing recruit.

I don't see Reuland coming in just because ND has already landed a TE, but the lure of playing for Weis and the incoming "super" class of 2009 might sway him, we may run out of scholarships though before he decides.

Well his 3 favs are ND,USC and Stanford so I think we have a shot.plus I think he likes the way we use Fasano.

Weis will defintely apply scholarships to 2005 when players like Aldridge start in January. This will allow him to take the max (25 scholarships) in 2006 PLUS 2 or 3 more that start in January for a total of 28-ish. Great times ahead.

With the seniors lost, all the guys that quit and lack of recruiting that past few years, there are plenty of available scholarships. Again, Bama took over 30 recruits last year and I believe Nebraska did as well. The sky is the limit with the amount of available spots ND has.

Get them all. Reuland, Young, Carufel, Jackson, McCoy....time to get greedy.

If Charlie doesn't sign atleast 27 recruits this class I will be very surprised. I bet he signs 30!

IowaDomer says the South Bend Tribune says Brown will commit to Irish on Thursday.
I can't find that in that paper. Who said it?

This is from Eric Hansen's article in yesterday's paper. Doesn't say he will commit. Says he COULD.

Later in the week, Aaron Brown, a 6-6, 287-pound offensive lineman from Cincinnati Princeton, could be commitment No. 20 overall and the fifth top 60 recruit (No. 52) in this class, with four months left until signing day.

There are 6 right now. Early enrollment will count for last year's class and open up spots.

Still, only 6 slots left and we have several needs. Those with offers better shit or get off the pot... or something like that.

We need another lineman badly and I'd like to see a top DE prospect personally.

3 OL and 2 DT still in the mix. What about another couple of receivers?

Assume Aldridge and Walls enroll early, that will open up two more spots for a linebacker.

Yeah, I like Wade but I'm not too sold on Ryan to be honest. I know we were on Maurice Evan's list but haven't heard much in recent weeks. Do you know if we're still being considered?

A couple of receivers would be nice but I'm not sure of many difference makers left at that position that are considering us.

I'd like to see us also get Anthony Lewis and Toryan Smith, but I see Smith going to Bama. There is a local kid to me that I've seen play and I love, A.J. Edds that I would also love to have but he didn't get an offer and will probably end up at Purdue or Iowa.

I've talked to people who have seen Ignatius play. Supposedly Ryan is a very solid player. I think we will be very pleased with him. He plays against some of the toughest competition in the country.

Aj Edds is Luke Schmidt's cousin if I am not mistaken...

If you want a Linebacker, Lewis is the best of the bunch that ND has offered. He's visiting, so this could be a huge grab.

According to an article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Walls will complete his senior year at Woodland Hills and NOT enroll in January.

Does anyone know if Aaron Brown plans on enrolling early?

Director of Admissions Dan Saracino has said that five players have expressed interest in early enrollment. Aldridge is one, but the other four aren't specified.

So this class has the capability of being 30 deep if all 5 commit and receive early enrollment.

which would be rather shocking if that indeed is the case. it takes a very special individual to be able to leave high school in december and start classes at ND in january. there are logistical issues that make it even more difficult.

not everyone who requests it will be granted early enrollment.

I lived in Cleveland and still have all of my family still currently there. Word on ryan is that he is a give it a 110% from opening kickoff to the final whistle. I heard that he hits like a freight train and is a great leader. I am stoked about this kid.

this is the sign of the times, Big Irish. This is becoming so common that sooner or later it will be almost inevitable that most big time recruits will want to do it. Ohio State, Miami, Virginia Tech and Michigan are just a few who have been allowing it.

Notre Dame won't let all five enroll early, but who's to say it can't happen? Based on grades and college credit, why not? Chris Stewart has 18-21 hours of college credit already. ND won't accept 12. Still, a kid like that obviously has his books in order and isn't just using the school for football.

In other words, these five guys probably aren't academic risks for the school to roll the dice on.

yeah, it is a sign of the times and i think it will begin to happen at ND. i wish i could find the article...it was publish back around weis' hiring. it specifically addressed early enrollment and ND's director of admissions (Dan Saracino) voiced his concerns on the topic. it was more than just a matter of classroom academics, but i don't recall what the other factors were. i do recall, however, that the overall message that Saracino was trying to put out there was that early enrollment was possible at ND, but a rarity all the same, and regardless of a player's grades, there would be many other questions that would need to be answered in order for that to happen.

my hope is that ND finds some success in allowing early enrollment and we're able to see additional players in the future allowed to choose this option.

I recall such said article. Good reference.

I think Weis wanted some things before he took the job. It wasn't about money. I think recruiting flexibility played a big part in negotiations. If a kid is a good student, ND has the resources to earn the guy a degree.

Agreed not everyone will be accepted early. As far as the logistical issues keep in mind ND freshman are essentially on a block schedule (same courses) so any course that requires a first semester prerequisite won't be available. I'd expect them to have a light load in the Spring.
