I've been watching Alabama dismantle Mizzou and unfortunately comparing our starters to theirs. This was a terrible thing to do.

I just don't see a future at ND where we field this type of athleticism across the board.

I mean these guys just look bigger, faster and stronger at every position.

Just the eye test.

This iteration of Alabama is sick, I've never seen a Program on a roll like Bama has been. As long as Saban is there they will be the best team in college football.

I mean yeah, but who will? I mean they are just on another level right now.

We'd be down 21-0 in the first quarter, then they'd let up and would end like it did in 2012.

Stars matter, and Bama has all the 5-stars.

My brother and I were talking about this last week. How many players on our team could actually get solid PT at Bama?

I think Fuller could. Prosise is a freak and Saban could play him somewhere. Maybe Stanley?

Defensively, I think Day, Jones, Jaylon, and Luke could get playing time or start. Redfield with the right coaching as well.

On offense, Fuller (although not sure he'd start over White), Stanley. On defense, Jones, Day, and Jaylon. No one else would be on the field in a tight game IMO.

Its sad that watching other high level teams from ANY conference compared to ND is completely different. Players, emotion, crowd, everything. But, I still love my Irish.

Not the first 7 games of the season. Injuries really hurt this team. The Kelly Era has talent just look at the success in the NFL.

Bama is just on another level when it comes to recruiting and coaching. Blake Barnett is really going to make this team explode as well because great QB play is something they have been lacking. Their defense and athleticism of the board is just stupid. Marlon Humphrey and Tony Brown would start for us and they are like their 3rd and 5th corner.

IMO Brian Kelly has to go out this offseason and make some changes that will help our recruiting efforts. I hate the way our coaches recruit besides Tony Alford. Kerry Cooks and Denbrock are decent recruiters but ND kind of sells itself. 3 of the last 4 recruiting classes have been very average for a team that wants to compete for Championships. It really showed up down the stretch that our recruiting on the defense side of the ball just won't cut it. I mean winning helps a lot with recruiting but we need to recruit more athletes on this football team.Drive me fucking nuts some of the kids we accept and kids we kind of just give up on unless Alford is on the case.

We need to stop recruiting guys who are going to be on Wall Street one day and start recruiting football players that will help bring what this program so desperately wants and deserves.

Yet expectations for many fans is that we'll be in the playoffs next year. Nothing like setting ourselves up for disappointment.

Stanley would start... maybe not as early as he started here, but he would've started there eventually.

Fuller probably could've broken into the rotation, and I doubt Prosise would've played because of drops.

On D, Jones and Day probably could've worked their way into being rotation players but not starters as upperclassmen. Jaylon Smith could've played their weakside linebacker spot. Cole Luke/KVR might've been able to break through as a nickel or something... their 2nd CB doesn't seem great.

So, by my estimation, we probably have 2 guys who would start for Bama out of our 22, maybe 3... and another 3 that would probably get serious PT.

That's why we gotta keep recruiting RKG's and only guys who want to be at ND

This team at FULL strength can not hold up against the elite in the country. I would love to be wrong but lets stop being delusional.

It's not my point. It drives me nuts when certain guys get offers I won't name any from this class but then we don't offer guys like Garrett Taylor who is an elite athleticism and a darn good football player. Instead we got complacent and went after a 3 star from Ohio.

Sorry and maybe Coleman fit our system better and I really think he can be a solid player for us. But Brian Kelly talks championships every year yet he recruits like he wants to compete in the Big Ten

It kills me to say it, but I'm starting to admire (definitely not like) Saban. His players are so clinical they border on cyborg. No emotion, just results. He preaches "The Process," and dammit, he sticks by it. Drop a ball? Sit down, think about it. Celebrate a touchdown too much? Sit down, think about it. Recruiting advantages aside, this guy could win big anywhere, with much less than he has now.

Totally agree with you. Steve Hare a mod over on II doesn't think he is an elite coach because he couldn't cut it in the NFL. Also a guy started a thread today over there that Nick Saban isn't an elite coach, here is his post.

How about that spin on it. What makes him Elite? Someone in another thread pointed out he only was 34-24 at MSU. How great is that?

So he becomes great when he goes to a football factory that has no standards. That doesn't make you Elite at all. Grey shirting, over signing, not caring about graduation. When you get to play others that don't go "all in" down this dark road, or you are competing year in and year out against Miss St and Ole Miss??? C'mon.

He's a fine coach but Elite? How'd he do when Florida had Tebow? 1-1. The SEC is a bunch of a non-college, non-ethical, farm league for the NFL. There's nothing wrong with it, other than if anyone plays along and compares them to college teams abiding by college standards/rules.

So comparing Kelly to Saban or Meyer is apples to oranges.

Everybody over there is honestly going insane, even the mods are starting to lose it

That's why one of my favorite games every year is the LSU/Bama game. Both teams are crazy talented but Miles and Saban seem like polar opposites and each team takes on that personality. I would rather play at LSU for Miles, seems a lot more fun. Plus Alabama is a dump.

During an interview before the 2012 title game, Saban expressed his disgust that the extra time dealing with the BCSCG hoopla hurt his recruiting for the next year. Dude is a freaking maniac.

haha what? He won 3 national championships in 4 years and consistently has a top 3 recruiting class. Regardless of how he accrued the talent, he clearly coached circles around Kelly in the National Championship. Kelly is nowhere near Saban's stratosphere.

OO bro trust me I know and agree with you. People are freaking looney tunes over there. I have said it before this is hands down the best ND board out there. So many great posters and level headed people. If people left II and came here it would be the worst. Seems like a lot of people are on the same page on this board

OSU hasn't lost a beat with a 3rd Stringer. Now that's coaching.

How do you keep OSU out after this? You can't let them jump FSU if FSU wins. Will they jump two spots over TCU? Even though TCU mauled Iowa State? God I hope not but I think OSU gets the 4 spot assuming Baylor/TCU/FSU win.

Makes me think that we would have been left off had we gone 11-1. Not having that 13th game may hurt the Big 12 as it would have hurt ND.

Takes BK 5 years to find a QB or get a QB ready to go.

Takes Urban a week to get his 3rd stringer ready to go against the 2nd best D in the country.

There is an eye test for ya. Golson and Zaire should skip Whitfield this summer and go hang with Urban

The entire Big Ten is so fucking bad. OSU is good but it is impossible to tell how good when half the teams in the conference struggle to throw a forward pass. Wisconsin should be embarrassed they can't find an even average QB to complement their running game. OSU struggled enough this year with bad teams to make me have doubts.
