Pitching staff is decimated with injuries and suddenly they can't hit for shit. They had the best record in baseball two weeks ago. What a crazy ass season so far.

I just looked up unassisted triple plays.
There has been 14 in MLB history, so I looked up what youtube has and there is a compilation of 5 or 6 different occurrences on film and what is remarkable to me is on at least 3 of them the fielder throws the ball away. The unassisted triple play ball would be worth a small fortune. Anyone seen one, or even just a triple play, live?

Meanwhile, this could be quite the showdown as the MLBPA is arguably the strongest union in the country & the owners feel they’ll have public sentiment on their side.

The main point of the salary cap seems to be to ensure clubs do not spend themselves into bankruptcy. At least that’s the point of the salary caps in the sports I follow in Australia.
In terms of spreading the talent there has been many different World Series champs over the last 20 years so it doesn’t seem necessary.

First sentence, agree. A lot of these guys are in their mid 20s and have just come up on 200+PA. The pitching analytics and tape could catch up to them soon.

83 home runs as a team and relevant in the first week of June? Yeah, we take that.

Second sentence, they are 2-2 without him and have scored 10 runs combined in the two games they lost. Let's see a bigger sample size without him. I am going to guess you're probably right, but we're not going to know by the time he comes back.

Manny Ramirez received his last $2M deferred payment this year. Ohtani’s dwarfs them all, but there are tons of deferrals out there that I didn’t realize. Hell, the 2001 D’backs WS Championship team was made possible by over half the team agreeing to deferred salaries.
