Latest talk is the Mets are favored for Soto. Cohn or is it Coen(?) has the money and has said he won’t be out bid. I’m guessing it comes down to how much is enough before everything else comes into play?

No cap but the luxury tax is substantial
How does the luxury tax work with these last two contracts and all the deferred money? Does that not hit until let’s say 2040 (just picking a random date).

Cohen is a hedge fund multi billionaire. That is an insane amount of money for a hitter.

MLB and ESPN have agreed to opt out of their final 3 years of the contract.

This goes to show how much bullshit money is involved.

They signed a deal that would be worth 550 million a season. ESPN gets 30 regular season games, wild card postseason games and home run derby. That’s insane

So now it will cost ESPN 1.65 billion dollars.

I read on another site it will help black outs and this is going to cause the streaming sites go crazy.

I know there are a lot of Ft Wayne folks on this board. Tech tossed a no-no on Tuesday. Frosh pitched that.

Maybe Kip is finally ready to start playing in NAIA WS again. Would be nice and well overdue.

Bonds and Clemens should both be HofFers imo. They had earned that honor before the juice. And back then it was no secret that everyone was juicing, the MLB (Selig) chose to look the other way.

Bonds was absolutely amazing. Those pitchers he was launching were juicing too

Brewers and Braves the only winless teams early in the season.

I believe the Braves are in trouble and I thought this in the off season. Acuna won’t be 100% until summer, the front office sucks a finding pitchers, and the staff can’t develop them. The manager isn’t good.

Not giving Freedy the years he wanted was/is stupid.

I think they eventually get in.

Dan Duquette, Boston’s GM at the time, was convinced Clemens was past his prime & chose not to re-sign him. My guess is Clemens was gonna show him what a mistake he made & ensured he’d be at peak form by adding PEDs to his regimen. He instantly won back-to-back Cy Young Awards w/ Toronto & continued to dominate w/ the Yanks.

RE: Bonds. I recall an interview w/ Griffey where he recounted a time when Bonds came to his house in 1996 in the midst of the McGwire/Sosa HR race. Bonds knew they were both using PEDs. He saw all the attention it got those 2 along w/ MLB in general & commented that “if that’s what it takes…”.

They both got their pay back but it cost them in the long run. Again, I think they’re both HOF players & you’re correct, PEDs were technically not banned at the time. I always point to the Canseco brothers as proof it takes more than PEDs to be an elite MLBer. Jose’s twin brother, Ozzie; juiced too yet never had more than a cup of coffee in the bigs.

It’s 162 game season. I think the Braves figure it out and are in the mix by season’s end. Pitchers are always ahead of the hitters & it’s showing for the Braves right now. You’re right about their pitching so that will be the key.

I love how my Yankees bats are on fire, but I don’t think they can keep it up.

They hammered Cortes so badly, his ERA is shot for the year.

I don't really follow baseball anymore but this controversy around the torpedo bats is pretty interesting. Kind crazy that people are still finding ways to innovate within the rules

The Braves suck. Ever since the ordeal with Freeman and his agent this team has gone downhill. They have no leadership on the team. We have no pitching, Olson is awful, snit is an awful manager and then you have the off the field crap with Snits terrible interview and Acuna’s tweet.

Once Acuna comes back and shows he is healthy I would trade him. Team friendly deal will bring back a great haul for the future.

Even the most loaded teams are not immune from injury. Missing Acuna & Strider for this long has hamstrung them from Opening Day. Then Profar embarrassed them w/ the PED leading most to wonder if that‘s where his career year came from in 2024. Kellenic looks to be a bust after struggling w/ his 3rd organization since being a first rounder. What happened to Arcia…injured?

I would build around Albies/Riley/Olson/Harris. You could definitely get a blockbuster deal w/ Acuna assuming he gives the impression he can bounce back. I like Snit but he definitely messed up w/ how he reacted to Kellenic dogging it.

If the Braves suck, I've got a list of teams that swallow.

They're 15-18 and it's the first week of May. Post Covid they're won 382 games. Back off of the cliff for now.
