We win for one simple reason:

Beating Stanford and then winning a bowl game will make expectations for next year SKY HIGH, and we will (presumably) collapse under the weight of those expectations next season during the first month. Rinse, repeat. Time to break that hex.

*Agree with HCTI, it's time to nut up or shut up. Anything can happen Saturday.

Props to you for this thread!

I don't get some fans. They get mad when we lose..when we do win, they're still not happy. Just because we don't win by 20+ points! Would you rather us be 3-8??

You have to see it this way. Playing ND brings out the best in every opponent. Beating ND is their goal year in year out. We are their bowl game. We must understand, a win is a win.

Is it probable... not so much.

No one has given up or thrown in the the towel. Many just believe SU will field a better team next Saturday. Hopefully the Irish will pull off a great upset. That's why they play the game and that's why we watch it.

Go Irish!!! :)

Great thread; I'm a believer and much happier with the team this year but I can't wait for a shot at redemption on Saturday. Here's an interesting tidbit: Stanford has only played 2 teams that rank in the top 50 in the points against category (Oregon and Cal, both are tied at 40th). Stanford lost one game and won the other by three, respectively. BTW, ND is currently ranked 22nd in the points against category. I know it's not a tell all stat, but it does make the trees' average 45 points scored a game less scary. For me, I think our defense needs to have a big game and hold them to under 20 points. Go Irish...forever

Lol I was trying to joke about how Mormons practiced polygamy, it was the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Like I had a friend who was Mormon and has 7 moms and 3 of them are in the choir.........no?..............fail!
