Well, damn if it wasn't pretty, but we survived. That game about gave me a heart attack.

This team has issues, obviously. But today and tonight, I'm going to celebrate this win, because a win is a win is a win is a win. At this point, I'd much rather watch ND win ugly than dominate and lose.

I gotta go coach my own team now...they're lucky ND won or Coach would NOT be in a good mood LOL. I'll leave it to you guys to moan and groan about this win...for me, it'll be time with some youngsters and then a whole lotta beer because ND's season was frigfin' saved today (for now).

Go Irish!!!

Just like Randall "Pink" Floyd says in Dazed and Confused: OTSS. Only the Strong Survive.

...and that's the thing about them high school girls, man. The older I get, they stay the same age...

Tommy Rees. What can I say. Thank god we were playing the worst passing defense in football otherwise we're 1-3 and people are calling for BKs head.

how about the fact that the irish are 2-2 and not 1-3.

tommy may not have been strong today, but he did lead a strong drive to give the irish the win. not the prettiest but he came through when it counted.

a W is the same if you play like crap and win by 3 or if you play great and win by 18.

Defense = great. The weak spot isn't Gary Gray like many keep blabbering about it's Prince Shembo, Dan Fox and Carlo. Those guys are getting better; but they still make a lot of mistakes in space.

Cierre Wood and Jonas Gray = boss. Tyler Eifert = boss at catching, lots of work to do blocking. He's totally the next Aaron Hernandez.

Tommy Rees = jesus christ start taking some HGH or steroids and get some ****ing arm strength to make the throws you need to be able to make.

There is absolutely no reason we should need a game-winning drive in the late minutes of a game when we're a spread offense and we're playing the WORST passing defense in the nation.

Our 3rd stringer should have been getting game reps at that time just for experience.

Rees has 9 TOs in 3.5 games. I'm going to lose all optimism if he remains the starter. We're so limited with him, at least give Hendrix a chance.

I much prefer games we win easily like last week than this. But I much prefer games we barely win than those that we barely lose. So I'll take it. Hoping Rees remembers he has TJ, Eifert, and Theo next week at Purdue. Don't want to see him spend a whole first half just looking for Floyd again.

Win is a win.

Not necessarily.

If anyone has seen my posts, they know I'm the kool-aidenest drinkin cat on this board.

That ain't gonna do it. Period.

We don't have a QB. I know Tommy had a great drive at the end, but that's not the kind of play (or coaching) that will beat a good team.

Half of that game seemed like we got out coached. We were just straight confused by the worst pass D in college football. Why?

All I know is that complaining about not "blowing out" an opponent is a luxury few programs/fans get. It's a good problem to have.

That was ugly as hell. Tommy came up big with the 8/8 drive but otherwise, he was flat-out awful. I thought Floyd and Rees would tear up Pitt (the119th pass defense) but instead, Floyd didn't get looked at after the 1st quarter. This adds to the argument that Rees is a "winner". However, for much of the game he was worse than Dayne was in the 1st half when he got pulled.

Get out.

That was one of the worst wins I've seen in a long time. You think that kind of play will even get us in the game against a Stanford?

We need to kick the crap out of bad teams. That was a bad team.

im not sticking up or defending tommy or dayne, but i dont think having a QB carousel and just parading different kids in throughout the season is going to help us much.

hoping this is just a temporary thing, an off game and we see more vision and ability from rees next week. but i think its too early to jump ship right now. again, i could be blind, who knows.

Also, I'm going to lay off of Turk for a while. He had to deal with some awful snaps and pinned all of his punts inside the 20. That long snapper needs to be looked at - I think he was the snapper on Ruffer's missed kick as well. I really wish that for once, ND wouldn't play down to the level of their opponent. Also, Gary Gray's PI call was bullcrap. That was great coverage. Unfortunately, he did miss some tackles. Hopefully, everything gets ironed out against Purdue.

Vegas put the line at 3.5. Only we Irish fans (and our pocketbooks) and the 'experts' that we ALWAYS bag on, were talking about ND blowing out Pitt. We always do this to ourselves - think we're going to blow teams WE believe are inferior.

Fact i, we played 3 excellent games (except for turnovers and punts) and we were due for a stinker. And we stunk. And we won.

Go ahead and be pissed...I'm gonna drink this one up because our season just got extended another week, my weekend/week just got a lot better than it was looking with 9 minutes left in the 4th, USC is still a big game, and the Irish got a 'W'. Enjoy your misery...

Enjoy your stinker.

We are no closer to competing for championships.

Pitt would have been a top 25 team if they didn't blow last week's game, so that's a good point.

However, a spread offense (who has Floyd and Eifert) going against the worst passing defense in the nation looks like that? We need to address the QB issue.
