So I was thinking about writing a long piece of surprises, shocks, disappointments, and finally disasters thus far in the world of college football. Then I realized it was completely a biased opinion. I highlighted and hit that backspace button like a mad man. Instead I thought why not just leave it up for discussion among IE members. No response is wrong and no opinion is incorrect.

( If this is in wrong category, I apologize now.)

My surprise this season is Notre Dame currently being undefeated, I remember the "experts" saying if Kelly wins 8 games to renew his contract and that it would be a step in the right direction. Now look at us instead of being handed every "advantage" out there were trying to fight our way into the National Championship. Pleasantly Surprised I'd say.

My shock would go to the team everybody left for dead after a scandal that rocked the college football world. Penn State allowed horrible acts to occur with no punishment to the abuser. However the boys on that squad have gone through hell and back. Seeing teammates leave, uncertainty if they'd even play at Penn State again. I don't know what has held that team together whether it being leadership among it's own, coaches, or just proving to the CFB world they are bigger than the crimes committed and now doing the time for.

My Disappointment goes to WVU and especially Geno Smith, I drank way too much of that Geno cool-aid. Enough said on that matter.

My disaster belongs to those Southern Cal Trojans and in no way am I sad to see it. some of those "experts" already had'em crowned Natty Champs, some of them already had Barkley taking home a suitcase full of trophies.

Geno is still a boss and people were too fast to give up on him. He is still one of the best QB's in my book.

As for ND I predicted 11-1 in the preseason. I was so confident in this team that I am not THAT suprised, by I am a little shocked. What an awesome feeling it would be to be in the National Championship.... and win it.

I still like Geno he is still a great qb just expected more.. maybe the unraveling of WVU just happened to soon. Ohh to win a National Championship.. It would completely make up for all the miscellaneous stuff I've broken throughout the years. It would also force an "expert" cough Mark Mays cough to admit it's all good there in South Bend.

once Geno lost his front line playmakers his season was sunk because WVU plays no D whatsoever

Surprises: ND being undefeated, KSU as a team, Texas A&M has been alot better then people expected in the SEC.

Bad: Our Schedule isn't as tough as it looked in the begining of the season. The ACC is not good.

Terrible: MSU,Texas,Washngton,

Just my two cents, but MSU is more disappointment than disaster. Other than 17 pt loss to ND here are there other loss margins:
1
3
2
4
Per here Total Defense - NCAA.com MSU's total defense is ranked 7...ND is 8. Basically their new starting QB didn't come anywhere near meshing with his receivers as well as EG and has no mobility. If the passing offense helped Bell at all, they are basically back in the Big Ten title game. They are almost a combo of last year's ND offense and this year's ND defense. By those details I think they are more of a crushing disappointment of high hopes than an unmitigated disaster.

My choice for disaster is USC especially when we beat them. I know they had sanctions but they were preseason #1, have incredible talent everywhere including potential heiseman candidate or two, yet they could end up with 4-5 lossesnon the year. I think that is more a disaster because of the expectations.

Texas are 8-2. They can get into the Top 10 and a BCS bowl with wins over TCU and K-State.

Hardly a disaster, even if the Oklahoma game was.

That's why I called Texas a dissappointment and not a failure.

I stand firm on MSU being a disaster. They were a top ten, Rose Bowl favorite pre-season, and now are scratching and clawing for a bowl bid, all in the weakest year for the Big Ten possibly ever.

Arkansas, that is all. Although itd be more an exposing of the overrated-ness of the SEC.

To me, a redshirt freshman, 3 star whatever, leading a new SEC team into Alabama and beating the Tide is the surprise of the year.

Virginia Tech and Logan Thomas. Not going to even go to a bowl game after having 8 straight 10+ win seasons. This is their worst season since 1992. Logan Thomas was supposed to be one of the best QBs in his class. The list goes on...
