A win is obviously a positive thing to take into the off season. Discuss the game here.

From the little I heard, Hughes, Clausen, Defense, Kamara, Neal, Smith, "the play" were all positive and apparently we should have won 35-14.
what was "the play" i couldnt see it

That was frustrating and painful to watch. It sucked ending last season with a bowlgame stomping, this is a bittersweet end. I actually can't believe the season went by so fast, and that I had the patience to watch every game.

I'm glad we won. I was a little worried for a while, especially after Gimes got screwed, but our Irish hung in there. Its time to start getting ready for next year. Go Irish!

Another tough one to watch. The D played pretty well and the O-line sucked as usual. Glad to see we could hold on and win it.

I caught a glance of Latina near the end and he didn't look like someone who was confident in their job. Bye Bye.

I didnt happen to see that but I hope he gets fired so fast his head spins. I cant stand him. I have never even liked him from the get go. So here's an interesting topic then. Who should we get if he DOES get canned?

It had to be either the INT Return, which was unbelievable, or Grimes TD that was taken back. There's no way he didn't catch that clean.

First time since 1992 that we won our last two games of the season! At least one streak has ended. Now we need to win a damn bowl game!

That was obviously a catch.

All of the officials of that game should be fired.

I'm not taking sides here, but the hit on their QB was horrendous. A penalty should've been called. ND just got lucky.

Hey there we go. We broke some streaks both good and bad this season.

Hey man. We gotta turn some negatives into positives. We looked pretty good today. Overall I'm impressed especially with the Defense. I just hope Latina goes bye bye!

I'm not so sure about that call or non-call. But I could understand if they did call a 15 yd penalty on that to protect the players.

But the refs were clearly not in control of this game. They twice called offsetting 15 yd unsportsmanlike penalties when Stanford took a cheap shot or late hit on us, and when the ND player took exception to it and got back up in the guy's face and maybe said something he shouldn't have, our guy was flagged. I don't agree the ND player did the right thing. But IMO, those two actions even if deserving of a penalty flag are not equal.

If talking gets you a 15 yd penalty, a late hit or unsporstmanlike hit should result in a penalty and ejection. The fact this didn't happen shows me the refs were not in control.

I agree 100% both sides have true concerns with the officiating. The explanation of the reversal was unreal. The ball went up in his hands so the ground must have done it. How is that inconclusive??? I also didnt understand the double foul on Clausen and #20 when he hit clausen with his helmet. I am sure Clausen was talking but the headbutt was pretty clear.

Also there was a bad late hit on Clausen out of bounds that was not called. The officials are lucky no one was really hurt.

My thoughts exactly. You just said it a lot better than I ever could. :)

At the beginning, it looked like they were establishing control. But then they let it all get out of hand. They all should be looked at very closely to determine if they should be fired.

Sure. Cut block and fall down a lot. I learned that from watching the ND O-line this year!

Why dont we go to a "Zone Blocking" scheme like the Michigans and Minnesota's of the world? It works so good. I dont know why Notre Dame never has used that scheme?

I feel the same way.

- I thought the biggest plus in the game was the way the defense played. Yes they probably would have given up more points to a better team, but you have to take into account the situation the offense often put them into today. Overall they played well enough to win and I love how much emotion they showed and how aggresivly they played.

- The offense showed some improvement but they still aren't all the way there yet. They shot themselves in the foot way too often. One of those ways consists of JC's pocket commen sense. Yes that was a very bad INT, but that was really the only bone head throw I can remember him making in the 2nd half of the season. I bigger problem with his play, and I guess it's my only real concern with him at this point is that he needs to learn to throw the ball away when it's evident that a play can not be made. Don't take a sack or step out of bounds for a nine yard loss.

- Robert Hughes played great these past two games. He and quite a few of the other freshman are showing real promis.

- The refs totally blew, and the replay official was even worse. Grimes was absolutly robbed of one of the best catches of the year in CFB, and it was the catch of the year for ND.

- While Stanford's new stadium looks very nice, the field was so bad it made the game difficult to watch at times.

- The fan support was great for ND and most of the time they were louder than the Stanford fans. Great job by the west coast fans!

- For those of you ripping CW's playcalling I think you need to adjust your opinions after the last couple of games. While I didn't always like it earlier this season I think we're starting to see ND go back to what it used to do. Keep in mind that how players execute a play greatly determines people's perception of a coach's playcalling and it also often backs them into a corner on future play. I've seen plays this year that I was questioning what the coaches were thinking, but the players made a great play and then the announcers would praise the great playcalling, but if it hadn't worked everyone would have been say what were they thinking.

- Everything considered a win is a win and I'm really happy for our players and these last two games should give our team some confidence heading into next season.

That replay guy should be fired. I hope someone looks into that call a little bit. Was Mark Gay doing the reviews today??

That's why the streak was even going. The '93 Cotton Bowl at the end of the '92 was the last Bowl game that ND won.

That's what CW wants to go to.
