Top 25 Final Coach's Ballots (link)

IF Tressel was casting his vote after the other 62 were already counted than that situation (him picking the opponent) would be valid. But as he doesn't know how the other 62 voted it's bogus.

He acted like a politician and sat on his hands.

If you can't vote ethically the last week you shouldn't vote any week. His votes throughout the season helped shape the race.

Was it really a question of ethics, was it that his ballot would be made public, or was the SID assistant that usually filled out his ballot out of town last weekend?

By publicly not voting, he gets a win win. He gets to claim to be taking the high road and doesn't have to offend anyone.

I can't see how he deserves admiration for taking the easiest possible option.

Another interesting tidbit in this article:http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-spbcs05dec05,0,1730327.story?coll=sfla-sports-front

Florida coach Urban Meyer said he turned down an invitation to be a USA Today voter last year.

"I made a decision not to vote for this reason," Meyer said.

"I can understand exactly why Jim chose not to vote. I am never going to vote as a coach in the USA Today poll."

I did not know that you could turn down an invitation to be a voter. This changes my opinion of the Tressel situation. Even though he could not have foreseen the circumstances of the final vote, he chose to become a voter and thus took on the responsibility and obligation of voting each week. By not fulfilling his obligation to the poll, he went back on his agreement.

Luckily for him, he probably won't have to worry about voting controversies anymore: It looks unlikely that USAToday will be asking Tressel to vote in their poll in the future.

It's not very credible that the guy who got caught having someone else fill out his ballot should have a momentary flash of ethics over who he was going to play.

I don't now if anyone heard, but Lloyd Carr was on Dan Patrick today and classified Tressel's voting move as "slick." He also said it was basically a vote against Michigan

I was shocked John L ranked the Irish as high as Charlie did. I would have thought that he would be on the line as guys like dickless Ty and dickhead Spurrier. What f****n idiots!

I wonder why Lloyd thinks that it's a vote against Michigan by him not voting? Tressel acknowledged before they played each other that he wouldn't be in favor of a rematch. So if he's true to his word and voted accordingly, he would have voted Florida in front of Michigan in this case.
