Get excited for some NEWS.

Finally. We've heard virtually nothing about the team since January.

Floyd will undoubtedly be suspended from the team. Sucks... but now Davaris Daniels and George Atkinson will have a real chance for serious playing time.

GOD, I wish DaVaris and GA3 were both EEs.

These kids might have to grow up real fast.

But Dan should be spectacular.

Sorry for being naive, but what are Smith's expectations? Was he being groomed to ultimately replace Floyd?

He has potential.

He has the size to replace Floyd (6'4", 215) and is supposedly pretty fluid for a kid his size. Expectations are pure speculation at this point, although Kelly mentioned him as a standout during pre-bowl practices.

But I've always been high on him.

We might be seeing a little more two TE sets with Eifert and or Ragone split out.

Also, this pretty much erases any chance of Theo moving to RB. Since he is the only WR that has at least provided some consistency (6+ catches in four consecutive games in 2010), it would be foolish to move him away from wideout if there are no other proven options there.

With Cierre, Roberson, Gray, and McDaniel I think Theo should a WR regardless of all this nonsense...

I'd be happy if Smith did his thing...Eifert inside, Smith outside..couple big targets that will likely win the majority of their matchups...both guys can create space and move the chains...Hoping smith can get vertical...

I know I'm feeling like crap right now because of Michael...all I can say is you love them while you have them, wish them the best when their time is up, and do what ya gotta do to win when they are gone...Like some others said on the MF thread...we did "ok" the year Timmy Brown Left.

We have a good staff, and a great bunch of kids...there will be other lapses in judgement, and injuries...I'm trying to be positive. Look at this way...if MF goes down in the first game, we get the same net result with no time to prepare.

Still stoked for spring ball...and the receiver position just got real interesting along with QB. As I said before, Brian Kelly is going to get his chance to develop some folks and to manufacture points...

BK will be able to handle this situation regardless of what happens. We have many options at WR. At least it wasn't a position like RB. If the same happened to a player like Cierre we'd be screwed...
