ICYMI they moved Coogan to LG this week. Rudolph made that call, implied he wasn't progressing at C. Doesn't sound like Carmody is getting reps.
Rudolph also talked about moving Baker to guard. New coach isn't thrilled with his guard play it would appear.
Sounds to me like we'll be fishing the portal for a guard.
How about this guy? Josh Simmons, SDSU He had a Duke offer in HS

He did also play Marhsall - and that was not fine

(although I still think that wasn't his fault as much as first year coach that poured a ton of energy into OSU and the whole team slacked off, especially oline)
((also WRs were inept still at that time))

IMO everything positive he does do in a game looks to be an accident. Thats what I hate, its like a pitcher hitting a home run..cool...but...

Huh? When TB is on, he is a game changing dude. I'm no film expert, but it absolutely jumps out how dynamic he is.

I remember listening to IB (I know I know) but they had a point that stuck with me. If TB outperforms Hartman into fall camp, it could potentially divide the locker room if they insist on sticking with Hartman.

TB is an ND guy who has put all the work in, did all the ND things, been with them... he's their brother in a way Hartman just can't be, especially if he's not clearly beating him out.

I hope Hartman picks up the playbook and shows all the veteran skills, it would only make TB better. But... it could potentially be a really dicey situation if not.

This Hartman/Buchner thing is what we’ve been waiting for… a legit, proven QB with a track record of success ‘returning,’ while getting pushed by a rising junior with a bunch of potential but not much experience.

This is the QB room situation we’ve wanted and needed for a while… and it’s still stressful lol

Hartman starting won't divide the locker room unless the team isn't winning. Then they probably make a switch anyway.

That Horka guy was saying he saw practice and Buchner was not all that impressive but Hartman way bad.
It could be Angeli by season end. 😂

Horka is not the guy I’m waiting to hear from to put it tactfully. When Prister or Freeman go with that take I’ll start worrying

Bro you convinced me, ND is getting the national title run behind the promised one Tyler Buchner and I won’t hear otherwise. Unironically, if Buchner is the guy he’s the guy you have to take the risk to win

Dude made his first ever start in a night game at Ohio State and it was fine. He came back in the bowl game after missing all season and was better than fine. Buchner makes mistakes but it's not because the lights are too big.

Either way, we need Hartman. Hartman should start. But I still think Buchner becomes a pretty good ballplayer before all is said and done. He's certainly not scared out there.
He was under 60% with less than 200 total yards. We have different definitions of “fine”

Would Buchner be having this good of a spring if Hartman wasn't at ND? Hartman is a better Jack Coan and what Buchner needs, remember Buchner only played 1 year of high school football. I'd rather hear good things about Buchner because if we didn't I think he would be a transfer candidate.

If there was a game today and there was still the talk of how good of practices Buchner has had I am still starting Hartman. I thought I read where Hartman had a bad practice, Buchner will also have bad practices.

Our young LB's need to be patient, especially Kollie and Sneed who I think could have breakout years.

Good to hear some news about Spindler. If the season were to start today are we starting Schrauth over Spindler?

I'd say that those stats say he is bad more times than good. In my original post i said it LOOKS like everything he does 'right' is an accident. Your telling me that he LOOKS comfortable at the line of scrimmage, in the pocket, making checks, making reads, and when he lets go of the football? It doesn't flow, if you can't see that I don't know what to tell you. I'm going to venture to say that he is good in practice because everything is pre-determined. No because some light bulb as gone off. I'm sure the competition is helping him, but all in all he hasn't show me from a visual stand point and/or a statistical point of view that what he does 'right' doesn't LOOK like an accident. If he could just chill out pre snap and through his progressions, maybe his stats would be better and he wouldn't LOOK like such a disaster.

I don't believe there is enough discussion re: Freeman controlling the O during the OSU game AND FM figuring out how to be a HC early last year, while Buchner was developing. Buchner looked much better in the bowl game and yes, he did make several mistakes. But much better.

And we are still in Spring with so much football yet to go. Coaches are focused on player development across the board and come Fall, they'll be more focused on the 2 deep and prepping for real games. Too much is being made about nothing at this time.

I don’t think there’s any way Hartman gets beat out by Buchner. Buchner has and usually does look great in practice it’s the game experience and live reps he needs to work on. We know what Hartman brings I think regardless Buchner will play a role in this offense this year and then take over next year

Latest Irish Illustrated pod says the literal opposite. First time Prister believes we can actually say he is slinging the ball with accuracy and command of the offense.

This is completely inaccurate. No one has ever written an article about how Buchner looked great in practice. I think his best day from last year was something along the lines of, "Buchner finally looked like the prospect we hoped he was".

They also made a valid point about Hartman not only having to learn a new offense, but also going a month+ without an OC or QBC. Have to think his experience will shine through and he will be the clear #1 come fall camp's end.

That’s meaningful. Prister was particularly skeptical/negative about Buchner last fall camp.
I think sitting up in the booth last year then getting a chance to play in the bowl game was probably the best thing that could have happened to him.

Hartman will be the starter, but Buchner’s going to get some playing time.
