Hey all. I'm going to South Bend to see the Purdue and Pitt games this year. It'll be my first time there. So I'm looking for recommendations on pubs, bars, restaurants and last but not least is there anywhere to sing Karaoke? Thanks!

Get a black eye at the Linebacker Lounge; have a slice of pizza and a beer at Rocco's, then settle for a mostly Irish crowd with a few Wolverines interspersed at Corby's.

Fiddler's Hearth usually has great live Irish music, although it can be prety crowded on football weekends, still one of the best places to hit up later in the night

Thanks for the suggestions. So no Karaoke bars? I've sang Karaoke in bars from Panama to Hawaii, New Orleans and Alaska and all kinds of places in between. Kind of want to keep the ball rolling on that one.

Mulligans...right across the way from the backer...either really works on a game weekend...just be sure not to wear any shoes you really like...They should take a floor culture at the backer, there has got to be some new bacteria on that sticky-a$$ floor...lmao

As for karaoke, there's little T's sportsbar in Mishawaka or Jovi's Lounge in South Bend...Haven't been to either so I really couldn't tell you how they are...Have a good time though boss!

The best pizza in town is Barnaby's and Bruno's is a close second. I reccomend you try one of them, you won't be disappointed

smh......

Roccos is by far the best pizza in town. And Politos is 1b if Roccos is 1a.

Barnabys is so over hyped. dont listen to him. lol

karaoke at mitchs in south bend, not bad. If that doesn't do it for ya, try bleachers. Different crowd there though. lol Nightlife is getting much better in recent years. Eddy street commons offers a few choices as well. I just went to Brother's bar and grill for a birthday on Saturday and the patio scene is perfect, of course weather permitting. I would suggest Main St. Pub, my go to spot for good prices, tvs and great music/atmosphere. All of these are in walking distance of the campus except bleachers. If you like deep dish pizza, Gianettoes is to die for, good luck getting in to roccos on a game weekend, line will be around the block. Gianettoes is about 5-10 min. from campus and you will not be disappointed. Hope this helps.

I have to agree. I always thought Rocco's was overhyped and preferred Barnaby's by a wide margin. Many will disagree but that's my preference. I suggest you try both and report back with your opinion.

I don't see how any pizza in South Bend could compare to New York pizza.

Politos is New York style pizza. The owner is from the Bronx and went to the same highschool as my dad.

Roccos is amazing.

But Politos is actual New York Pizza.

Try it next time you're in town for a game.

Polito's is off the hook. I'm always shocked that it's never mentioned when people talk about SB pizza joints. Roccos is great, but I am a NY pizza guy myself.

@Sherm - There are a bunch of crappy NY chain-style pizza joints there too, but try Politos for sure.

I feel the same way wooly. Politos just doesnt have the street rep it deserves. Like i said Roccos and Politos are 1a and 1b. Roccos is only 1a because it was there first. Both are amazing.

Mmmmm... Portillos... Unos... I need to visit my guys in the Chi again soon.

Oh, and as for South Bend night life, I've heard 113 Joyce Center Notre Dame, IN 46556 is pretty raging at 1 am. You should check it out.

Brunos and Politos are both great. Barnaby's is overrated and can do a number on your stomach. Never had Rocco's, will have to check it out.

Between the Buns is a decent sports bar. Food isn't that great but a good place to have an adult beverage.
