UCLA took a QB off the waiting list yesterday. Brett Nottingham was one of the many that got eyeballed during May evaluation but I never saw anything further. He had some good camps this month including SU's and UCLA's, both offered. Chow apparently was impressed enough to take him off the market.

There's only 4 of Rivals Top 20 Pro QBs not commited:
6. Scroggins - shortlist USC, UF, UTN
11. Hendrix - ND, OSU??? and ??? (Kiffen's still looking)
14. Massa - ND camper, WIS, CIN
18. Shreve - No offers; No ND connection

Rettig Impresses at Elite 11 Event

Rettig Impresses at Elite 11 Event

Brett Nottingham a big winner in Las Vegas Elite 11 - ESPN

One of the several names mentioned as a possible "other" QB in this class, Chase Rettig impressed Scouts Inc's (ESPN) Craig Haubert at the Vegas Elite 11 at UNLV this weekend. Haubert liked his strong arm and quick delivery, he thought he looked better at UNLV than he did in USC Rising Stars Camp preceding this event.

Rettig may be a tough "get" as the "other" ND QB. He recently picked up an offer from BC after Boisture decommitted from the Eagles for MSU. BC is in dire need of QBs and has to get a good one in the pipeline.

Connor Wood Underimpresses Haubert

Connor Wood Underimpresses Haubert

I was going to put this snippet in the tread on QB Connor Wood, who ND offered but committed to in-state UTX, but can't find a thread for Wood using the site search function. Rivals lists Wood as 6-4, 209 and the #7 Pro QB. Hendrix is listed at 6-3, 220 and ranked 4 spots lower than Wood.

Texas commit Connor Wood (Houston, Texas/Second Baptist) was in attendance. He has good size and flashed good ability, but had an inconsistent day and was not as sharp as expected.

Is There Another QB In The House?

Is There Another QB In The House?

According to Jake Brown at IrishIllustrated.com ND search for QB#2 continues. Sean Robinson camped at ND this weekend and thinks he did well.

And that's why Matt James is leaning to Cinci. Damn, I know they're friends but I hope James isn't stupid enough to join him there. He would have a chance to see significant PT as a freshman if he came to ND. Damn...

edit: Steve Wiltfong is the one who thinks Cinci is in the slight lead for James...

Scroggins to USC

Scroggins to USC

ESPNU 150 Watch List quarterback Jesse Scroggins (Lakewood, Calif.) committed to USC over Florida and Tennessee Wednesday on ESPN's College Football Live.

ESPN's Tom Luginbill said of the news, "From a system stand point, Scroggins fits what the Trojans do really well. He's a pocket guys with enough athleticism to get himself out of trouble the way Mark Sanchez did. He has the arm to make every throw necessary at the collegiate level; Scroggins is more than capable of making the plays to receivers down the field that the Trojans' offense requires."

I'm sure thats what some coaches are telling alot of WR about us this year

This is where I don't buy that arguement. You play with ONE quarterback. Just ONE. You can have 5 WRs on the field at any one time, use a WR in Special Teams, and have a rotation of more than 5 guys running plays in and out of the huddle. QBs are different. You don't rotate QBs... WRs ya do.

You don't but many recruits do.

Zook took Benn he'd been the centerpiece of the Champaign passing game, not one of three. He'd be The Man.

'08 QB PT
Clausen 375
Sharpley 19
Crist 0

'08 WR PT
Tate 291 minutes
Floyd 237 (missed 3 or 4 games with injury)
Grimes 234
Kamara 175
Parris 61
Gallup 16
West 4
Goodman 0
Walker 0

IF Prater signs with ND as a freshman he's competing with Tate, Floyd, Kamara, Parris, Evans, Walker, plus Goodman and Toma.

As a soph he'd have Floyd, Walker, Goodman, Evans, and Toma, plus the other guys in his class and maybe Eifert.
