So if Pete, Charlie, Stoop, and Saban give a recruit the thumbs up than he justify as the real deal!! Is that what your trying to tell me. How about Colt McCoy? He had only one top school offer him(Texas). None these other coaches(minus Saban wasn't in the league)gave him the thumbs up.
More red herring. And about as accurate as a Joe Biden statement.
No Pete, Charlie, and Stoop, didn't offer Colt. He had offers from Texas, A&M, GT, KSU, MU, and PU according to Rivals. So approximately 110 other Div 1 head coaches didn't offer Colt.
Of those Head Coaches that did offer Colt, dirty, which ones still have their jobs?
What was it the 110 other coaches didn't see? Or did see?
Was it Colt's height? Flutie doesn't think height's a problem. Lots of 6-0 or 6-1 QBs have done well and a bunch of them in Colt's class got offers as well.
Could it have been that Colt was ranked the #73 player - not on Lemming's 100 or Rivals 250. He was #73 on HIS STATE LIST. What were those people thinking?
Was it Colt committing early to Texas and telling people he was firm.
Quarterback Drought Over; McCoy a Horn — 5/18/2004, from Orangebloods.com
Mack Brown thought so highly of Colt filling the UTX QB DROUGHT (see link above) that he offered the #1 Dual QB Ryan Perrilloux all of 6 weeks after Colt said, "I'm a Horn, Coach!" Mack hook'd 'em good when Perrilloux said Yes.
Colt found out he wasn't Mack's real McCoy and reopened his recruiting. Tripped to A&M. And dozens of offers crammed his mail box. Actually they didn't. Why was that, dirty? They had a second bite of the apple and didnt' take it.
Then the plot thickens and Perrilloux gets a call from that guy who "wasn't in the league".
Yeah, he was.
Perrilloux gets call from Saban — 9/16/2004, from TigerBait.com
Horn, Tiger, Horn, Tiger, ... Finally Perrilloux says, "Oui!" to LSU.
Mack shows all the love in the world to Colt trying to salvage a disaster losing 2 QBs and ending up like Davie and ...
Did you follow recruiting back then?
McCoy to his credit although ranked way down at #15 (a whole 2 slots behind Thomas) uses the Perrilloux insult to hone his skills and raise his game to show MACK as well as those that didn't offer that he can play the game (being on a team loaded with talent doesn't hurt either. Wonder how he would have done with 58 sacks as a freshman QB with 8 new starters on offense?).
Now that we've dealt with the red heerings can you enlighten me on WHY you'd rather have Thomas over Montana?
The original post really was just a simple request to learn insights.
