Over one team with a winning record now. RICE (6-4). We shouldn't have even been ranked this week. Uggghhhhh.

We are lucky our strength of schedule has been piss por this year. Luckily we can salvage the season with two more wins, hopefully.

Is this team really this bad? It seems like the committee got it right in our recent ranking because we are on a huge downward trajectory as opposed to a team like Ohio St. which is getting better and better.

I mean poor in game coaching/playcalling and turnovers aside, Northerwestern quarterback looked like a heisman candidate against us. A team with one of the worst offenses in CFB. Guys like Jaylon Smith are still getting lost in plays. I think out of all the defensive players yesterday, Cole Luke played the best. He has been consistent aside from some poor run support. 500+ yards given up to them. Just wow.

I am okay with the offense, other than I thought BK could have ran more (as usual) and saved the defense. But the defense lost this game if you take into account the game in its entirety. They did not show up.

Off the top of my head, I was thinking what the biggest wins by ND would be since the Holtz era. This means nothing when comparing the coaches, but is it fair to say that the two most impressive wins since the Holtz era was the '04 wins over a Big Ten champion Michigan (9-3) who went to the Rose Bowl & SEC East Champion Tennessee (10-3)? Hard to find better wins on paper than those two.

We beat FSU, and ourselves a few games this season. That's several wins over a team with a winning record.

I think we gave MSU their only loss last year. 2012 Oklahoma was big too.

"Is this team really this bad?" Worse.

"Northwestern quarterback looked like a heisman candidate against us." That's a bit over the top. He got the job done. Thats it!

You're correct. Looking at the final rankings, the MSU win last year trumps the two I mentioned as they finished #4. The OU win is pretty comparable to the scUM & UT wins in '04.

2012 produced wins over two top-10 teams:

@ #10 Michigan State
@ #8 Oklahoma

The last top-5 win was in 2005 over #3 scUM.

I was thinking more of where the team was ranked at the end of the year since polls are so subjective until the bowl games have been played. They're still subjective but not as bad as early season polls. I don't believe Sparty nor OU finished in the top 10. I don't think Sparty even finished in the Top 25. Now last season's win over Sparty would definitely qualify. They won the B1G championship, the Rose Bowl & finished ranked #4.

Really goes to show what Notre Dame was capable of last season.
