Thanks, guys!!

I started this project back in March. So I guess that means I've been working on it for 7 months or so now. I'd like to have it completely finished within one year of starting it. So I'm well on my way...

And I'm not going to stitch them all together when I'm done - I'm going to frame them individually and mount them together on the wall all artsy-like.

I'm thinking it's going to be close, either way. I'm still trying to decide in whose favor it's going to tip, though. I'm thinking ND by 3 or less.

I don't know how someone could do something so horrendous to deserve a lifetime ban. His biggest mistakes were all directed at mods, not the rest of the board. So while I understand all of the mods banning him, I think completely shutting him out for eternity is a bit harsh. If he apologized to you guys, got limited access and worked to prove that he could contain himself, then I don't see why a guy can't earn back his seat at the table. Especially if it a year or two removed from his banning.

If he were some goon troll, then I could see why it wouldn't be worth the energy. But the deer was one of, if not the most, beloved posters on the board before his exit.

I agree with this, and GB, myself, and TP were the ones he insulted....

It's no worse than irishpat's racist remarks.

If doomer can prove he's OK, then I'm down with having him back.

*clears throat* Hrm hrm hrm.

I'm working third shift and it is busier now than it is on first shift (mostly because there are 5 people on first shift and I'm on my own for third shift). But the extra $2.75/hr makes it pretty much worth it.

Any of you guys have experience with third shift? Any tips on how to adjust my sleep schedule?

I would plan my day, or night, so I was up a bit before work and a bit after. But I had that luxury. I woul also spend $ 3.17 per day for a five hour energy drink every time I worked midnights. I had to drink it just prior to the beginning of the shift, or the results would last too long. If I was having a hard time getting up, I would wash my face in ice water. Invest in heavy blinds. Not knowing how long your shifts are or how many days you work back to back, I cannot give you much more advice. Do you work 3 - 12's or 5 -8's? Unless you work 12's don't eat much as far as heavy meals after your shift starts. It is good that you can keep busy. Are you sure you are not a vampire?

I work 4 10's. 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off, repeat.

Also, I'm interviewing for another job back in Michigan. I hate being so far from my family. It would be second shift, so only a slight improvement on what I'm working now. It's almost assured I'll get the job. I am just afraid of quitting this job. I've never quit a job before. What if they stone me to death?? I'll be leaving them in quite a lurch if I quit...

Just had a friend who worked twelve years for a company. Did a good job. They dropped him like a rock last week with no severence or benefits. Didn't see that one coming at all. The point is you have to ask yourself, what if that shoe was on the other foot, a conversation this friend of mine and I should have had a while ago . . .

Just don't do that to your company. Give them the best in terms of notice, ask them for a letter of "reemployment", that they would hire you back. Let them take you out for dinner, or at least bring stale cookies in to the break room for you. Tell them you need to be closer to your family, (and Notre Dame).

And one more thing Neutered expressed his disappointment in me. He considered me posting Rehab as a personal affront to his incredible animal athletic prowess. So:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6ScdaHc7J8g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bO4SznMGBwc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And he just wanted everyone to know he was still a cute pooper and that he was never banned more than three times in his life.

I hope that my information was helpful to you!

Wooly said that all of Neut's diatribes were directed at the mods, which just isn't true. Like you said, there were many aimed at normal posters, as you pointed out. Hell, he threatened to beat the living sh!t out of a couple of members, and demanded to know a certain member's real name (and wouldn't let it go until the poster would tell him his name - which he never got).

Like I said, I liked Neut, but he crossed the line, A LOT. There were things that went on overnight that most of you guys never saw that the mods would clean up before y'all woke up, things that I couldn't believe were coming out of his mouth. What phammer said was 100% accurate. I really do hope that Neut's healthy both physically and mentally, and that he's in a good place in his life...

As my mother always told me, "Never make the mistake of believing that your job is a relationship, it's an arrangement. You make an arrangement to do certain tasks in exchange for money, the moment you make the mistake that you have a relationship with your employer is the moment you lose all of your power".

A couple of thoughts; I've lost people that at the moment seemed insurmountable but somehow we always got through. Secondly, I learned that feeling was my fault, not the employee's, so I made sure there was always a ready contingency plan so when it happens we kept rolling.

If you find a better job, take it. Be respectful, give them notice, but take it. If they aren't prepared, their fault not yours.

From someone who has worked 3rd shift for almost 5 yrs, take the sleep whenever you can get it. I thought that I would adjust, but it just doesn't happen. It goes against the laws of nature. Your body's natural circadian rythem will never fully allow you to sync up with sleeping during the day and being up all night.

Fun statistic: people who work at night, on average, have a life expectancy that is 7 years shorter than those who don't work nights.
But hey, we love the shift differential in pay!

I actually didn't see this post for some reason. I did not say that all of Neut's posts were directed at the mods, I said that his biggest mistakes were directed at the mods. Those mean different things.

I don't see any of the non-mod people that he insulted supporting a lifetime ban of him, just sayin'....

Water under the bridge though, we don't have to debate it. IT"S scUM WEEK!!!!

Thanks for all of the advice!! I interviewed over the phone with the lab director and the head of microbiology. My best friend, who works in the Micro department and told me about the job...and put in a lot of pull with me with her boss, told me that they were both very impressed. All that's left is a peer interview. I've already told them that I will give my current employer the standard two weeks notice.

My current employer really screwed me over (hired me for a first shift position but stuck me on thirds because I'm the most recent hire and the third shift person left). So I'm stuck on thirds, even though it's not what I was hired for, and will be until a new third shift person is hired and trained (and there are no current applicants and training takes 4 months). So I really don't owe them anything...
