Shot girlfriend multiple times in front of her mother, drives to stadium where Pioli and Romeo attempted to calm him down. Thanks them both and pulls the trigger just as the cops arrive.

Unreal. Prayers needed on this one.

The more details that emerge the more tragic this becomes. So very, very sad.

This is an absolute tragedy...prayers going out to the families of the parties involved...My heart especially goes out to the mother of the gf and to Pioli and Romeo...I can't even begin to imagine the long term effect that would have on a person witnessing that.

As a Chiefs fan, this is devastating. I am praying for the families of those involved, and the players. Jovan seemed like a guy that always played above his potential, and was never a distraction. No one knows what went on in his life, and why he chose to do something so terrible.

RIP.

I completely agree. Shows an absolute lack of will power. I have personally gone through a lot in my life and thought about that myself quite a lot, but that is absolutely a selfish act, and then to top it off to kill your girlfriend who has a young baby as well...makes you wonder sometimes why there is no intervention on HIS part. I don't understand how that could possibly be part of his plan.
Prayers to the victims and their families, especially that little one. Dude can burn for all I care.

I have to disagree with both of you. Obviously he committed an awful, awful act. But the man is dead and a lot of suffering is left in his wake. Comments like he can rot, and burn for all I care are not helpful at all. I am not saying he should be glorified, but I know I personally feel sadness at this tragedy, not a desire to make disparaging comments about a dead man. I am sure many of you will disagree, but it is my belief that this accomplishes nothing and comes across as very crass and inconsiderate. It is one thing to feel sadness and anger at what happened another to speak of someone rotting or burning in hell, in the end none of us are the judge of his fate.

As usual I agree with some of Whitlock's commentary and disagree with some as well. I am not trying to steer this towards a gun control discussion which he mentions in the column, my question is do you think the Chiefs should be playing today? I do not know that I can answer this question. I think if the players and coaches want to play and this will help them in the grieving process it is the right thing to do. My problem is I feel it is much more likely the game is being played as a business decision, this I feel is wrong. It should not be decided that the game will be played because of logistical concerns or because of fans who bought tickets or traveled to the game. It would be a shame for those fans to miss the game, but that is not reason enough to warrant playing after such a tragedy if it is not something the coaches and players would otherwise want. With Goodell immediately making the call for the Panthers to travel to KC as planned I suspect the game would have been played for business reasons even if it was not considered in the best interest of the players and coaches, this i believe is wrong. What do others think?

It's just makes me sick to think of the 3 month old girl that is never going to know her parents. I said a prayer for her and all those affected in church today.

I visited a couple of Chiefs sites today, and it was just disgusting. There were those paying tribute to JB, and huge tirades going on about honoring him. It just made me sick, and I don't think I'll visit again for the rest of the season.

There are a lot of misplaced feelings, and it's going to take the community time to heal.

Apparently it was Jamaal Charles' girlfriend's cousin, and he introduced them.

KC won. Nice. Also Brady Quinn went 19 of 23 for 201 yards with 2 td's and 0 ints

He left a baby motherless. As a father of two young children, I'm horrified, saddened, and angered by his actions. So excuse me if I come across as inconsiderate for saying a murderer can rot in hell. I'll try to be more considerate of murderers' feelings next time I make a comment about them.

Something positive: Brady Quinn tells KC Star Chiefs players plan to set up a fund for Belcher's daughter Chiefs players plan to set up a fund for Jovan Belcher's daughter - Arrowhead Pride

Thanks for the positive news. Quinn played great today, but working with his teammates to establish a fund for Belcher's daughter is more important. I have a lot of respect for him and the other Chiefs players that are working to do this. I also think it is commendable that Brian Waters is going to the player's hotel to speak with them tonight.

I can see your point.

Like many of us on IE, I have childeren too, and am saddened by these events and the impact it will have on the young girl's life. However, we don't know what his psychological condition was. Maybe he had some mental imbalance that masked his ability to reason wrong from right. He may have been a great person normally who did not have control of his mental faculties at an extremely tradgic time. This by no means excuses these horrible acts, but if you're going to judge him with impunity, please at least consider acknowledging this possibility. You don't have to feel sympathy for him, just widen your view slightly.

I think your feelings toward the situation has clouded your judgement. He didn't say he was for sure a great person just that we don't have all the info to make a judgement.

Exactly. If it is mental illnes related, is it that individual's fault they have a mental illness and possibly couldn't distinguish right from wrong? Let me be clear, I am not saying that is the case in this situation, but it is not out of the realm of possibility. My point is directed at the fact that you didn't take that into account by virtue of your initial statement and assumed it couldn't be anything else but a cowardly act. If it is able to be determined that it was just a cowardly act in a fit of rage, I agree with you 100% Irishnuke.
