9-3 and gets fired. Ridiculous if you ask me. Didn't win against a top 25 team, but his record since he has been there isn't something to scoff at. Who wants to coach for a school that fires a coach that is 9-3. This isn't the first time Nebraska has done something like this either. Frank Solich was fired after a similar season, and also brought them to a Championship game in 2001 with a Heisman winner in Eric Crouch. Unreal expectations.

67 - 27 in 7 years at Nebraska. Not a horrible record at all, but he had to live up to Tom Osborne's legacy which was not easy. I think Pelini gets another job real soon.

Tom Osborne was a very good coach but the beneficiary of playing only Oklahoma every year, and some bad teams to complete his season. His teams were always above average but weren't able to get over the hump until later in his career. Similar trajectory as Pelini imo.

Yeah Nebraska has our expectations but has to convince people that a very average school 10x more in the middle of nowhere than ND is worth attending. That's not easy and if they don't have patience, they'll be stuck where they are forever.

Hypothetical: Kelly goes. Do u put Bo on the short list?

Edit: muschamp and Weis were first "fired" coach's this year right?

Why? Do you honestly think he's going to get a call from Michigan or Florida? I don't.
I would rather be a DC somewhere with notoriety rather than coach for a program that has only had a season of success in a long, long time. Kansas is where head coaches go to die.

The OP should keep the first post updated with all of the firings to keep the insanity that is sure to follow a little easier to track.

So who is all on the list
Pelini

Bo's firing probably has to do with his lack of wins against Top 25 plus the fact that he lost favor long ago with the Cornhusker faithful. Don't know if he deserved the ax but his antics both on and off the field will be a turnoff for most teams... college or pro. I just don't think his style fits the pros and I don't think very many top flight CFB programs will consider him. On the right staff as a DC, Bo could be great again. Guess we will see.

I guess I don't subscribe to the notion that any discussion---even if it's utterly inane---is worth having.

How is it "utterly inane" to discuss whether or not having a possible replacement (if Kelly leaves, which I think is very unlikely) whose record is 67-27 in a Power 5 conference? Three seasons in the Big12 and four in the Big10. NDdomer2 didn't say he, personally, wanted Pelini...just wondered if anyone would. Which is somewhat logical considering he runs an offense similar to what a lot of folks on here have been screaming for. I don't think most would want him but it's not completely outlandish to think someone might...or that someone would at least think it's worth the discussion. Especially since there aren't many big names out there this year if BK does decide to bolt.

As for me, I don't want Pelini. Don't think his actions would last long at ND. Plus I think his record is a little deceiving. But still...I'm sure it's a discussion worth having to some people.

If anyone seriously believes that someone with the personality and baggage of Pelini would even be considered by the ND administration, then they haven't a clue how ND operates. Not as inane as the person last week who suggested Petrino for ND, but comparably ludicrous.

Well maybe some people don't know about Bo's personality and tirades and they just learned something and are better off now because of the DISCUSSION. But it's inane to have a reasonable discussion on a discussion board. Not everyone is as knowledgeable about some of these other coaches, which is a good enough reason to discuss it...in my opinion.

Ok, fair enough.

Gotta think pretty quickly. And do they make the run at Harbaugh? Word this morning is he is up for a trade deal with maybe the Raiders, especially if he doesn't run the table the next 3-4 games.

I just don't think Harbaugh is all that interested in coaching in the college ranks. I believe he just used it to gain experience.
