I plan on being there too. gonna be hot as balls
Went to North Dakota State @ Kansas State 12-13 years ago. It was around 100 degrees the whole day tailgating. It remains the only time I've mixed drinks of water into my fluid intake while tailgating.

K state/stadium people went to all the tailgate lots to tell us we could bring as much water in as we wanted.

Hottest game I’ve been too was Florida at Ole Miss for a day game in 1996 (I think it was that year; I know Wuerffel was QB). We had end zone seats facing the sun. Our faces were beat red & the sun headache + the 2H blowout led us to leave early & go back to the Grove for shelter.

Last year’s game at Texas A&M was the hottest game I’ve attended. I suspect this game to rival that one.
I’m expecting anything that can favor AR to happen b/c It seems like a perfect trap game. All you hear about is how Pittman is on the hot seat & Arkansas has the toughest schedule in the nation (which looks like could be the case). I have a room at Embassy Suites booked for two nights but now that it’s a day game, I’m thinking of canceling the 2nd night and head home. Anyone know if NWA hotels still require a two night stay on game weekends?

Fairfield Inn, Springdale.

Gonna fly home Sat night.
I got a room at Embassy in Rogers. Since it’s a day game, I’ll likely cancel my Saturday night stay & drive home after game.

One of my buddies works in Wine & Spirits and will be hosting some co-workers so I’ll be tagging along w/ them wherever they go.

Wright’s. They have a spot in the stadium but obviously can’t beat the actual restaurant.
Concur. The original location in Johnson, AR may be the best. I’ve only eaten at the one in Rogers which is more modern. They just opened one in LR & I’m hearing one where I live in Bryant may be coming Soon.

So Chris Wilson of Rakes Report had some juicy tidbits to share on his schedule podcast. He heard the following from an Arkansas fan who runs a college gambling podcast (Big Bets on Campus):

Tyson and WalMart are not kicking in for football NIL, only basketball and baseball; his projected O/U for sacks on defense is 9.5 due to lack of talent; Sam Pittman offered to retire after last season for half his buyout, but his agent stepped in and withdrew the offer; the DC and OC (Petrino) nearly fought on the practice field because the defense was getting too physical with the quarterback.

Sounds like the game is the Arkansas "Ring of Honor" game.

They will be celebrating Ryan Mallett.

I would love to see Lou Holtz in attendance but also understand things are becoming harder to do for him.

Holtz came back to Arkansas a few years back to be celebrated by his former players & then deliver his usual motivational speech. It was classic Lou & great to see his players honor him. It included David Bazzell who was a former LB but is better known as spearheading “The Broyles Award”. Also in attendance was Darius Walker’s dad who was an AA under Holtz. Sadly for both him & the program it was NOT at the University of Arkansas but at the University of Central Arkansas (about 2.5 hours away).

While fans around my age still love & appreciate the Holtz era, the younger generation just knows him as Dr. Lou & a former ND HC. The AD who hired & fired him was Frank Broyles and it ended ugly which seemed to be a trend when Coach Holtz left a school. That said, he was responsible for, IMO; their biggest win on a national scale when his Hogs upset #1 Oklahoma despite suspended his entire backfield. The back up went on to rush for over 200 yards. It also helped ND vault into #1 spot after the Irish demolished the #2 Longhorns & Earl Campbell.

So long story short…Holtz likely wouldn’t be in attendance even if he was younger.

Just saw they have a 30 year old sophomore WR playing for them
Monte Harrison. He was a 2nd round draft pick in MLB draft out of HS. He had a cup of coffee w/ the Marlins but gave up after a decade & wanted to utilize his college eligibility as a football player. I think he was drafted by the Brewers before playing w/ Marlins & Yankees.

Correct. Most folks assume Tyson & WalMart kick in for football but that’s not the case. Tyson was instrumental in getting Calipari. The baseball program is seen as the program most likely to win a NC so not surprised there either.

I had not heard about Pittman offering to retire but not surprised. Everyone loves him as a person but most fans are ready for a change. Taylen Green has looked as advertised today…albeit vs an FCS school. Tons of transfers on both sides of the ball. Defense looked out of position early & the Alabama A & M QB was picking apart their zone D.

Then bama A&M did what overmatched teams tend to do…self destruct. After their first score to tie it on an impressive drive they held UA to FG. Then they saw their next drive start hot before dumb penalties derailed it forcing a punt. That allowed UA to settle down & now they’re blowing them out. So this game won’t tell us much about what to expect vs the Hogs.
