The defense is still suspect in my opinion. Recievers were getting behind the DBs even when they were playing soft coverage. Also, it was stated early on that the aggressive approach would lead to giving up some big plays but also result in more take aways, sacks, negative plays. So far it's been way too much of A and not nearly enough of B.

I can understand the way you feel, and your point.

I feel as if none of the coaches felt very secure about predicting tendencies of Whipple and Mass. Plus, there is obviously a case of infectious cerebral flatulence gripping the entire defensive backfield.

And we know that Kelly is going the extra mile to avoid trap games.

So don't you think that it is logical that they played soft coverage.

Next I think they want gonzo on the line. The only reason we didn't have a record day with sacks is that quarterback was so good at getting the ball out of his hands. I think the adjusted the routes of their receivers with this strategy in mind. That is why it all played out the way it did. I was depressed by it too!

I have no problem with giving the receiver some cushion depending on down and distance. What was a bummer was seeing the UMass recievers get behind the DB's who were playing soft coverage. UMass was a couple bad throws away from having 14 more points in the first half. Also seeing the defensive backfield get burned by a trick play they already saw this season was frustrating.

Offense on the other hand looks stacked for the next few seasons.

Agreed, and agreed.

But I think we saw some game circumstances colliding with performance. I don't think the kids recognized what Mass was going to do. So I think we are in agreement. I just don't see the long term negative in it without any other possible corrective outcomes.

New ICON up, sorry I can't embed on my iPad. I really like the scenes of Sanford and the staff up in the box. Had a lot in this one. The split screen between Sanford and Kizer was really cool.
