Have to give it to this team. They never give up.

Hindsight is always 20/20. So it would be easy for me to go back and say if this would have happened or that but that doesn't solve anything. It just causes more headache and heartache.

The season is far from lost. A playoff spot is definitely out of the question. The goal now needs to be a New Year's Day Bowl.

It appeared to me that BK was pretty up set with BVG and Lyght. But to fire BVG now as many would like, is not in ND's personality. Also, who would they even upgrade to play caller if they did. We are just going to have to roll with the punches the rest of the season and pray for the best.

Go Irish!

Haha are you kidding?

Stanford is going to blow this team up,USC is going to kill the Db's, Miami will probably even beat us. That's not counting VT.

I said goal.....GOAL!

Goal- noun.
-an aim or desired result.

Or we could tell the team their GOAL should be to tank and get the number one draft pick next year. Wait...

If we put this product on the field going forward, we'll struggle to be .500
Hat if MSU and a Texas go undefeated and these are just two quality losses?
It won't matter when we add the other 2-4. Nothing wrong with being optimistic.
Fuck you...idiot. Our D is so bad. Just leave us out of the playoff and the top 25. We will be lucky to win 7 games. Such a poorly coached team.

Kudos to Sparty...D is a good coach. None of our coaches are any good. If so, we would not have not punted with 4 minutes to go. It's Cincinnati all over again folks.

We could go 10-2....highly unlikely. But who cares st this point. There is little hope
Pretty sure we know who the idiot is here. Do better.

So after a shity loss there is a long list of people who you could rightfully attack with your internet typing. BK, BVG, Luke, the D, the list goes on.....instead you chose to attack posters on this board unprovoked. It's posters like you that make this board better!

"Internet typing" is pretty funny. But seriously, how can we not expect what Sparty is going to do. It's obvious..and bvg is scheme only...zero fundamentals

I won't attack posters anymore...just pissed and don't understand why millions of dollars of money get spent on coaches that have no clue

Well at least the chances of DK going pro after the season is a little less likely. But the chances of MZ and/or BW transferring just went up a little too.

Why the hell would Wimbush transfer?

If two quarterbacks are transferring, they'll be Zaire and VanGordor.

Zaire will be rated too high, he will go pro. IMO Just like Will Fuller. When he got his rating it was done.

Our QB's will be Ian Book, Whimbush, Avery Davis. I do feel Zaire will transfer and Kizer to the NFL. Just my feeling.

I know it was probably a mistake but I believe you mean Kizer will be going pro in the first sentence.

I personally don't think Kizer is first round material at this point.

I think he could definitely BE that, but I see him back here next year.

Experience will make him a GREAT QB.

Their entire team sucks besides McDowell and as long as B1G refs don't get in the way we're going to embarass them in prime time.

Nope. I feel like MSU is one of those teams that you don't blow away often, if at all. At least not in this rivalry. They come to play just about every meeting, same for Pitt. The team just didn't feel fired up, even last night at the rally. I don't think most of them knew what this rivalry was all about.

Pretty vanilla, no crazy sound bytes  Cool to see the '66 team all there though, hopefully they can inspire these guys for tomorrow night. Michigan State is one of those rivals that always plays us hard, I hope the younger guys know that. Only the Seniors have faced the Spartans in their careers.

Just watched it, din't have the big game feel to it

Yuuuup. There was decent energy to start, but they took the gas off. Only these Seniors even remember the 2013 game. Not that the same isn't true about MSU, but they've certainly been on bigger stages than we've been in recent years. That, and they've probably been hearing all about Dantonio's woes against Kelly since that 2010 ending. I think the Seniors played hard tonight, but the younger guys made a lot of mental errors and didn't play with the same passion and heart that we needed in this one. There were exceptions, but it was the upperclassmen that brought the physicality and mental edge in this one, a lot of these younger guys weren't prepared for it. Everything just seemed to completely unravel in the 2nd quarter, and it took us way too long to get the motor running again. I was shaking my head when we decided to punt on the last possession, I had a feeling the defense was too gassed to ask for another stop, we should have taken the shot.

I agree. However you ignored the stupidity of using a timeout there also.

And the fact we didn't take that penalty that would have pushed them to 1st and 15. In an offense like MSU's that's going to be a punt more often than not. Why we stuck with 2nd and 7 is beyond me, especially since they were in "bleed clock" mode, they were mostly running the ball.

I have to agree with that assessment.

From another thread where I tried to make a few points :

1) Kelly has reached his highest level of incompetence (Peter Principle;)

2) ND has been outcoached since the Stanford game last year;

3) Firing VanGorder ain't enough;

4) Recruiting memento is going to take a kick in the slats.

MSU's offense took ND's defense, and their scheme apart. Their use of receivers constantly made safeties make poor choices, and left corners exposed.

Forget criticism of Coleman. Or Luke. Last night our corners constantly had to make decisions playing alone with no safety help behind or in the middle. What would you do on a route if you had to cover deep and worry about the receiver cutting inside, with no help from anyone?

MSU performed a clinic on how to kill that 4-3, or 4-2-5 with play action. Which is a shame because ND has the talent to be pretty good on defense.

As far as offense. I felt bad for DK, because MSU clearly knew how to stunt off the defensive line to kill 70 percent of what the Irish offense could do. To not be able to adjust through a whole game to some defensive line stunts which gave MSU a four to three, or five to three man advantage, is unbelievable!

It is really sad, and way too disturbing because this is exactly what Greg Mattison used to do against ND when UM beat the Irish what, three years in a row?
