Just watching the replay of the game on HD, how was that not called a TD? The ball was clearly on the white line while in his hands.

AT BEST he was down at the goal line and his momentum was stopped. He never crossed the line.

I applaud his efforts, but you don't expose the ball like that when there is a pile of defenders in front of you.

Nothing can be done about it now. Whether he was down or it was a fumble, he didn't score.

He should have maintained control of the ball regardless. There is never an excuse to fumble.

that is what i first thought but when i did frame by frame in HD, the ball was on the "white line plane" while in his control.

agree with the thoughts about exposing the ball.

Hey, I thought they won the game with a safety.

Wiess will make sure he does not try that again. He will be fine - he is only a freshman. This will be a good learning experience for him.

I had hoped so too, but the replay clearly showed that Teague got at least to the 1-yard line...

It appeared he scored but what was that 1st down?? I dont remember but why expose the ball like that, just take it in and come back to fight another day, hes a freshman he will learn.

I'm still not sure what you were looking at KMac. That ball never got over the line. He got TO the line, but didn't "break the plane" as they say. There were nothing but bodies up there and he got stuffed back hard.

I believe it was 1st down. You tuck the ball away and run it again (Brady on the sneek). Just my thoughts, but if they rule it a touchdown our way, then we aren't talking about this now and Schwapp gets applauded for his efforts. He's a freshman, he will learn. He will be an animal in the coming years with Aldridge Walker, and Schmidt. God that gives me chills.

Frame by frame on HD showed the ball touched the white line -- with the ball in his hands....next frame shows it leaving his hands....it was 1st and goal.

Thank you, if not it was very close and if anything his forward progress had been stopped. Regardless he should have tucked it away and lived to fight another day, freshman mistake he will learn from it and become a better player, and you can't blame the officals or the call for the reason why ND lost the game, we squandered so many golden chances to win that game.

Your comments are right on --- this call did not lose the game.....officials made an ok call.....i was at the game and thought Schwaap lost the ball as he was being pushed back 3 yards....he clearly lost it as he exposed the ball over the goal line.....based on what i saw though i still think the ball actually crossed the line in his control -- even for a micro second - which is a TD -- surprised the booth didn't reverse.

if ND would've been awarded the TD, MSU probably wouldn't have gone into their offensive shell so I can't say this call cost ND the game.

Paging Rahson Powers Neal.....Mr. Powers Neal, your table is ready.

He sure looked powerful in the Red Zone against the PITT PANDA's.

can anybody surmise why in the hell RPN didn't have the ball on the 1 yard line as opposed to ashwap? has weis addressed this issue? and if so, what was his rationale?

RPN was the backup tailback that day. So he was second behind Walker, not first at fullback.

(Remember the scene in Waterboy when the coach points to his ring? Point to Weis' three I guess)

Any coincidence that RPN was back in the lineup this week and Schwap didn't get many carries... did he get any at all?

Gotcha.

Poor Schwaap, too, because I still content he scored but because of a missed call, he not only became the dog, he didn't get used the next week. It'll make him stronger though, and I love the kid. He is going to be opening holes for our guys for quite awhile.

Who cares about that now, my question is why isn't Rashon Powers-Neal not the one handling those carries.

Weis has always said those who perform in practice will play. So either RPN practices like Allen Iverson or he did something else.

Allen Iverson? A rather unnecessary crack.

The starting FB practiced at RB for the good of the team and he practiced well enough to be #2 on the depth chart. But since he has been the starting FB since last season, I'll bet he still knows the way to the end zone without sticking the ball out to be swatted away.

But then I'm only a walk-on with no rings.

I like how Schwapp has gotten involved.....even though it hasnt been that successful it will help him develop, to be something really special when he is a junior/senior.

PRACTICE. We're talking about PRACTICE. I mean, not even a game, PRACTICE. We're talking about PRACTICE. Powers Neal played well in PRACTICE.

That was the secret word of the week on Sesame Street for Big Al that day. Ranked right up there with Jim Mora's PLAYOFFS!?!? rant. Classic.

A.I. and T.O. All the morons go by initials and congregate in Philly these days.

Remember the rant Iverson went on at a press conference after he missed practice? This was a couple of years ago. He said the word practice probably close to 30 times. I was waiting for him to start spelling it.

A complete jerk. Reason #9713A why the NBA sucks.
